Four people were wounded on Sunday morning in a rocket attack on Beirut's southern suburbs.
The Lebanese army said in a statement that a rocket was fired at a car dealership near the Mar Mikhael church and another landed in the Maroun Misk neighborhood.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea urged the caretaker cabinet on Saturday to tackle Hizbullah's involvement in the war in the Syrian border town of al-Qusayr during Monday's session, rejecting attempts to revive the 1960's electoral law.
“Hizbullah's participation in the battles alongside the Syrian regime's forces will bring many miseries into Lebanon,” Geagea warned after meeting with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi in Bkirki.

Al-Mustaqbal Party leader Saad Hariri stated on Saturday that Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah is demanding the recognition of the “State of Hizbullah," considering that the resistance has announced its “suicide" in the Syrian border town of al-Qusayr.
“You have announced yourself the end of the resistance on Liberation's Day,” Hariri addressed Nasrallah in a released statement in which he responded to Hizbullah leader's speech in the commemoration of the liberation of the South earlier on Saturday.

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah stated Saturday that the resistance will win the battle against the “United States, Israel and the Takfiris just like it emerged victorious in previous wars,” assuring that he will not allow the “breaking of its backbone.”
"I say to all the honourable people, to the mujahedeen, to the heroes: I have always promised you a victory and now I pledge to you a new one in Syria," he said in a speech he gave at a ceremony marking the 13th anniversary of Israel's military withdrawal from southern Lebanon.

Phalange Party MP Sami Gemayel lashed out at politicians on Saturday for submitting their candidacy based on the 1960 law, considering it as a “defeat for the Christians.”
“If we continue in this path then within 48-hours we will have to adopt the 1960 law, which will be a real defeat for all Christians,” Gemayel said in a press conference.

Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani warned on Liberation Day that Israel would take in its advantage the increasing local disputes.
“On May 25, 2000 Lebanon registered its first real victory against the Jewish state,” Qabbani said in a statement on Saturday.

Lebanese Democratic Party leader MP Talal Arslan announced on Saturday his support for Progressive Socialist Party chief Walid Jumblat's proposal to extend the parliament's term to avoid a deteriorating security situation.
“I support the proposal of MP Walid Jumblat to extend the legislature's mandate,” said Arslan from Ain el-Tineh following talks with Speaker Nabih Berri.

Saudi King Abdullah expressed hope that Lebanon would witness stability and prosperity, calling on the Lebanese to preserve their country and maintain coexistence in it.
Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awadh Asiri conveyed the King's message in a dinner banquet held at his residence in Yarze on Friday eve for current and former premiers.

The Higher Islamic Council called on Saturday for announcing Tripoli an arms-free city, criticizing the clashes between the rival neighborhoods Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh.
“The security situation in Tripoli is isn't related to local affairs. It became a hotspot for sedition,” the deputy head of the Higher Islamic Council Omar Mesqawi said after chairing an extraordinary meeting for the HIC.

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati hoped on Saturday that the 13th anniversary of the liberation of the south would unify the Lebanese and consolidate the authority of the state.
In a statement issued by his press office, Miqati said Liberation Day should “become an incentive for consolidating national unity because it is the only measure to strengthen the authority of the state.”
