Abou Faour Says Unified Prescription Form Cannot be Forged, NSSF Refuses to Compensate People

Health Minister Wael Abou Faour stressed on Wednesday that the signature of the doctor cannot be forged on any unified prescription form as there are three copies of it, despite claims by the Order of Physicians that the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) isn't abiding by the ministry's decision.

“The health ministry examines generic drugs to make sure they apply to the adopted standards,” Abou Faour said in comments published in As Safir newspaper.

Journalist Firas Hatoum Briefly Detained in Turkey

Journalist Firas Hatoum and his colleague Rony Rmaity were temporarily detained by Turkish authorities on Tuesday for illegally entering the embattled Syrian town of Kobane, reported al-Akhbar daily.

It said that the LBCI television journalist was seeking to film a report for the channel from Kobane, but the advances made by the Islamic State group in the area forced him to alter his plans.

Kataeb Slams Daher's 'Extremist' Remarks, Urges 'Full Isolation of Such Behavior'

The Kataeb Party announced Tuesday that it “categorically rejects” remarks voiced Sunday by al-Mustaqbal bloc MP Khaled al-Daher, which were deemed insulting to Christian symbols.

Police Arrest Rapist Taxi Driver in Southern Lebanon

Security forces have arrested a Lebanese taxi driver in the South on charges of rape and attempted rape, the state-run National News Agency reported on Tuesday.

NNA said Aa.Sh., who hails from the southern town of Tayr Felsay, was apprehended by security forces, after an unidentified girl filed a complaint at the Nabatiyeh police station claiming he tried to rape her.

Lebanese Man in U.S. Court for Allegedly Being Ex-Hizbullah Operative

A Lebanese man went on trial in the United States on Monday on charges that he kept secret his prior affiliation with Hizbullah and Amal movement to remain in the country and to possibly gain access to sensitive information.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Roomberg told jurors in San Antonio, Texas, that Wissam Allouche admitted to an undercover agent to previously being an Amal commander and that he supported Hizbullah.
