British Ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher announced on Tuesday that his country will provide Lebanon with a financial assistance to fortify its army's capabilities and to help it confront the Syrian refugees crisis.

Fletcher said after a meeting with President Michel Suleiman at the Baabda Palace that his country will supply Lebanon with $20 million to beef up its army's abilities and with $75 million to support the state with the crisis of the Syrian refugees.

Caretaker Social Affairs Minister Wael Abou Faour revealed on Tuesday that a meeting will be held with President Michel Suleiman and caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati at 7:00 p.m. at the Baabda Palace.

Abou Faour said in comments published in An Nahar newspaper that the meeting will tackle the establishment of a trust fund to manage the financial assistance received from donor countries and international organizations to confront the mounting Syrian refugees crisis.

Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi revealed on Monday that all political parties were exerting efforts to strike a deal on a hybrid vote law after the four major Christian parties decided to suspend the Orthodox Gathering proposal.
