U.S. President Barack Obama and Cuba's Raul Castro will have an opportunity for an historic face-to-face meeting at the Summit of the Americas this week, a senior White House official told Agence France Presse Monday.

"There will be time for the leaders of Cuba and the United States to meet," said Ricardo Zuniga, the National Security Council's Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs. "There will be some type of interaction."

U.S. President Barack Obama has rejected a call by Israel for any nuclear agreement with Iran to be conditional on Tehran's recognition of the Jewish state's right to exist, branding it a "fundamental misjudgement". 

Speaking after Israel proposed its own terms for the accord, Obama told U.S. radio network NPR Monday that demands for Iran to recognize the country go beyond the scope of the agreement.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday again denounced the agreement between Tehran and world powers as a "bad deal" that "endangers" Israel and will leave Iran with a large nuclear infrastructure.

An outline deal agreed in Switzerland on Thursday paves the way for Tehran to curtail its nuclear activity in exchange for relief from punishing economic sanctions.

Saudi King Salman told U.S. President Barack Obama that he hoped a final nuclear deal between world powers and Iran would strengthen regional and world security, official media said.

In a phone call with Obama on Thursday, Salman "expressed his hope that a final binding deal would be reached to reinforce the stability and security of the region and the world," the SPA news agency said.
