I’ve said it before, and I’ll probably say it again; Luc Besson is like a one-man factory that’s quite adept at cranking out a number of action films every year. He’s an incredibly prolific writer/producer/director, and his latest effort behind the camera, Lucy, could be one of his better films in recent years. Starring Scarlett Johansson as the titular badass, it’s a fun and energetic sci-fi/action film, even if it often takes itself a bit more seriously than it should.

Hercules is no stranger to the big screen. In fact, this is the second film starring the son of Zeus this year. The difference is, this one doesn’t make you want to gouge your eyes out. Directed by Brett Ratner and starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Hercules is a straightforward sword-and-sandal flick that does exactly what it needs to do. Is it going to blow your mind? No, but it’ll entertain you.

Throughout his long career, Woody Allen has been fascinated by magic, a theme he's explored frequently onscreen: playing a magician in "Scoop," sending Owen Wilson on time travel in "Midnight in Paris," or pulling Jeff Daniels out of a movie screen in "The Purple Rose of Cairo."

And though one might think, with the wave of terrible publicity he went through earlier this year, that a bit of magician-like escape into a bygone era or a movie screen is just what he might prefer, Allen is doing anything but disappear.
