Take a Chance! Rare ABBA Memorabilia up for Auction in Sweden

Two rare ABBA recordings along with clogs and clippings will go under the hammer in Stockholm in August when a vast collection of memorabilia of the legendary Swedish pop group goes on sale, an auction house said Friday.

The Stockholms Auktionsverk expects the sale of the some 25,000 ABBA items on August 10 and 11 to fetch some 830,000 kronor (95,000 euros, $123,000).

Prince, J-Lo among Oscars Academy Invitees

U.S. pop veteran Prince and singer-actress Jennifer Lopez are among the artists invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), the body which runs the Oscars announced Friday.

Lucy Liu, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and British actress Emily Mortimer were also among 276 new members invited to join the film industry's most prestigious club, as was veteran French actress Emmanuelle Riva.

The 1949 film classic, "The Third Man", is to be turned into a musical and will be seen first in Vienna, the city where the movie is set, production company VBW said.

Vereinigte Buehnen Wien said it was "proud" to announce that the premiere of the musical version of the Oscar-winning black-and-white film will take place in 2016.

Walmart Drops Deen after Racial Insensitivity

Walmart, the world's largest retailer, on Wednesday distanced itself from cooking star Paula Deen, saying it would end new business with her company after she made racist remarks.

"We are ending our relationship with Paula Deen Enterprises and we will not place new orders beyond those already committed," said Danit Marquardt, a Walmart spokesperson.
