Militia in Sudan's North Darfur state attacked a village and killed 13 people, a local source said on Saturday, adding to an upsurge of deadly violence in the area.

The attack on Friday targeted Sigili village, about 30 kilometers (19 miles) southeast of the state capital El Fasher, said the source, who cannot be further identified for security reasons.

The visit of two Iranian naval ships to Sudan reflects strong ties between the countries, Sudan's military said on Tuesday after Khartoum denied Iranian involvement in weapons manufacturing.

Sudan's links to Iran have come under scrutiny after Khartoum accused Israel of sending four radar-evading aircraft to strike the Yarmouk military factory in the heart of the capital at midnight on October 23.

Sudan's foreign ministry on Monday denied that Iran had any involvement in a military factory which Khartoum says was attacked by Israeli aircraft last week.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms what is known by all: that Iran has no need to manufacture weapons in Sudan, for Iran or for its allies," the ministry said in a statement.

Residents have fled the capital of Sudan's South Kordofan state after renewed shelling, a witness said on Saturday, as rebels claimed responsibility for their third attack this month.

"Yesterday five shells hit the ground inside the town while an official delegation from Khartoum was visiting," during the Eid al-Adha Muslim holiday, said the witness in Kadugli who asked for anonymity.

Sudan is a "dangerous terrorist state," a top Israeli defense official said on Thursday after the Sudanese government accused Israel of carrying out a deadly missile strike on a military factory in Khartoum.

Sudanese officials say the attack on the Yarmouk facility south of Khartoum, which took place at around midnight on Tuesday and killed two people, was carried out by four radar-evading aircraft.

Sudan on Wednesday accused Israel of bombing a military factory and threatened retaliation after the attack that killed two people.

"We think Israel did the bombing," Culture and Information Minister Ahmed Bilal Osman told a news conference.

A deadly attack on peacekeepers in Sudan involved weapons "never used before" and may have aimed to prevent them reaching an area where violence had been reported, the mission told AFP on Monday.

The ambush on Wednesday about 10 kilometers (six miles) from Hashaba North in North Darfur state killed one South African member of the African Union-U.N. Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) and wounded three others.

Hundreds of thousands of people in Sudan's conflict-torn state of South Kordofan are on the brink of famine as Khartoum keeps up a blockade on aid agencies, a new survey released Thursday said.

The study, carried out by an international aid group and released via the Washington-based Enough Project, warns the situation in the state resembles the conditions that led up to the Horn of Africa famine in 2011.

Sudan's parliament on Wednesday approved almost unanimously deals with South Sudan on oil and security that the two countries' presidents have hailed as ending their conflict.

"After discussion by the MPs, the general feeling of the assembly is to agree to those deals," parliament speaker Ahmed Ibrahim al-Tahir told deputies just before the vote.

Sudanese rebels have shelled the capital of South Kordofan state for the second time this week, they said on Wednesday, but it was not immediately clear if there were casualties or damage.

"There is some shelling inside Kadugli. It was yesterday evening," Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, spokesman for the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), told AFP.
