القبض على تمساح نهر بيروت ووزنه 20 كلغ

تمكن أحد الصيادين، ظهر الخميس، من القاء القبض على تمساح نهر بيروت، وفق ما أفادت "الوكالة الوطنية للاعلام".
ولفتت الى ان التمساح يزيد وزنه عن 20 كيلوغراماً.
وأول ظهور للتمساح، كان في شهر تموز الفائت، حين لفت اختصاصيون أنه من أخطر أنواع الحيوانات.
وكانت المعلومات الصحافية آنذاك، قد اشارت الى وجود "ثلاثة تماسيح كحد أدنى، في نهر بيروت، أحدها بطول يتعدّى الأربعة أمتار وعرضه متر، تتواجد على أول المصب من جهة البحر".
وتجدر الإشارة الى أن المنطقة المحاذية لمصب نهر بيروت، تحتوي أيضاً على نهرين من النفايات تفصل بينهما مسافة من اليابسة ليست بالكبيرة، ويتصل إحداها بجبل النفايات، ومن المحتمل أن يكون في تلك المنطقة أيضاً تماسيح.
ونقلت صحيفة "الجمهورية"، حينها عن الطبيب البيطري الدكتور وليد درويش ان التمساح ينتمي الى فئة تمساح النيل " Crocodylus niloticus"، وهو واحد من التماسيح الأكثر خطورة في العالم، ويشكل خطراً كبيراً على الإنسان، وهو مسؤول عن مئات الوفيات من البشر كل عام، وموطنه الرئيس أفريقيا".

The Lizards are even multiplying, there has been lots of incidents like this, and i don't think anybody dragged all those here, they left the Nile river, and swam all the way to Beirut, thats why we should leave them alone, nature takes it's course.

lappe, I think this is good, in Australia too, they have them all over the place, and not many people die. These lizards mostly avoid humans. If they can have them in Australia and Egypt etc. Then why not Lebanon? I hope these lizards multiply.

Well Mystic what i can tell you and i am not an expert on natural wildlife is that in Australia there are a variety of other animals they can feed on. In Beirut i'm afraid we do not enjoy of this diversity except for bony stray cats. This will not satisfy our beloved nile crocs.

In Australia they actually consumer croc meat. Correct me if i am wrong @the_roar. I've only tried Alligator meat and it tasted pretty good.
