فجر مطلوب نفسه خلال قيام عناصر من الجيش بمداهمة منزل يتحصن داخبه مطلوبان في بلدة النبي عثمان، ما أدلى الى اصابة عدد من العسكريين بجروح.
وقالت الوكالة الوطنية للاعلام أنه "خلال قيام دورية من القوة الضاربة في مخابرات الجيش بمداهمة منزل في بلدة النبي عثمان، يتحصن في داخله مطلوبان مسلحان أحدهما من آل البريدي، والثاني من آل الحجيري من بلدة عرسال، حصل اشتباك مع القوة المداهمة، وحاول المسلحان الفرار بواسطة سيارة "بيك آب". وعند اشتداد الحصار عليهما، فجر البريدي نفسه، وأصاب عددا من العسكريين بجروح".
وقال الجيش في بيان صادر عنه "أثناء قيام قوة من الجيش - مديرية المخابرات في بلدة عرسال بدهم مكان وجود الإرهابي بلال ابراهيم بريدي، وهو أحد المشاركين بالتفجيرات التي حصلت في بلدة رأس بعلبك بتاريخ 24/5/2017، أقدم الأخير على تفجير نفسه، مما أدى الى مقتله وإصابة بعض العسكريين بجروح غير خطرة، حيث تم نقلهم الى أحد المستشفيات للمعالجة".
