Report: Nouhad Mashnouq to Replace Rifi as Potential Interior Minister in New Govt.

W460

A new agreement has reportedly been reached over the naming of a potential interior minister in a new government after the March 8 camp's rejection of former Internal Security Forces chief Ashraf Rifi, said al-Joumhouria newspaper on Saturday.

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat led efforts late on Friday night to reach an agreement over naming Mustaqbal MP Nouhad al-Mashnouq instead of Rifi.

The March 8 forces had informed Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam that they do not oppose Rifi acquiring any portfolio except the interior ministry.

The alleged agreement over Mashnouq will likely pave the way for the announcement of a cabinet line-up later on Saturday, reported the daily.

Jumblat's envoy caretaker Social Affairs Minister Wael Abou Faour had held talks on Friday night with Salam on the proposal.

The Mustaqbal bloc, headed by MP Fouad Saniora, agreed on the proposal after a meeting on Friday night, while Hizbullah and other factions also reportedly agreed to the suggestion, revealed the daily.

Salam's all-embracing government was expected to be announced on Friday after the major energy ministry obstacle preventing its formation was reportedly resolved through intense contacts between Mustaqbal and the Free Patriotic Movement.

But another obstacle revolving around the interior ministry portfolio emerged on Friday morning, prompting Salam to delay announcing his cabinet's line-up.

Why? Because he stopped the mamlouk samaha plot to plant bombs in Lebanon?

No because he has a track record of FAILURE when it comes to uncovering plots, terrorists, traffickers, assassina, etc. He's literally the most useless with the most imp position. Was, thank god. He was removes and you can see how efficient the isf and the intelligence has been. This sectarian agitator has no role in positions whose goal is security and stability.Mashnouq is a goos alternative and a wise choice by Salam.

---karim_m2--, why don't you go ask Nasrallah where is his loyalty to Lebanon? After all it is the Iranian militia that pledges allegiance to the so called Axis and throws Lebanon into chaos fighting to keep the Assad clan in power.

That I know of Rifi nor any other M14 leaders have never threaten to go to war if Saudi Arabia was attacked… can you say the same of Nasrallah & the Glorious Hizbullah when it comes to Iran?

So you're basically saying that all the jihadis who are protected in tripoli and arsal who are causing all the terrorism in the country wouldn't have come to Lebanon if it weren't for hizb's 'intervention'? And tell me, when did okab and the gang start (and still do) to send milk and plankets to rebel terrorists and advertise Lebanon as a haven for terrorists? Pssst, much earlier than hizb. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

The only difference now is that instead of syria theyre polishing saudi sandals now! And if bashar remains, youll see them polishing theyrr shoes again just like geagea did and jumblat and everybody else!
