Aoun Warns against Extension of Security Officers Terms

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun rejected outright the extension of the terms of security officers, calling on the appointment of new generals to lead the army and the Internal Security Forces.
“Any further extension of their terms is a clear violation of the law,” Aoun told As Safir newspaper in an interview published on Monday.
“According to norms, two officers should be appointed in the army and ISF leaderships when the term of those leading them expires,” he said.
Aoun denied last week that he had proposed his son-in-law Commando Regiment chief Brig. Gen. Chamel Roukoz to be appointed army chief.
Roukoz's tenure ends in October 2015 while the term of army commander Gen. Jean Qahwaji expires at the end of September.
ISF chief Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Basbous is set to retire in June.
In his remarks to As Safir, Aoun stressed that the decision to extend the terms of top security officers was not solely the jurisdiction of the defense and interior ministers.
“This is an issue that concerns the government, which is the only party entitled to extend or not,” the lawmaker said.
He warned to “confront any attempt to impose the extension” on the rest of the factions.
“As long as we are in the cabinet, the irregular will not become a rule,” Aoun said.

So if roukoz get the post of general comander of the army in september he will retire one month later on october (due time) or will he get a blessed extenssion?....
What do u think will aoun stance be then?...

This clown needs to be sent to a mental institution where it houses ex-generals of the Lebanese army...but then he'll be the only one in there ;)

But he has no problem with being an MP in a Parliament whose mandate was extended twice.

Genral Qahwagi had said that he didn't ask for his term to be extended but it was so here were are.

The dishonesty and hypocrisy of Aoun explained..
Suleiman Franjieh: Some sides dare to say that they support the extension of the parliament's term, while others hide behind political calculations. Lebanon cannot support holding the elections even though we wish otherwise were true. We are faced with vacuum or the extension. We must be realistic and honest with the people.
Patriarch Al-Rahi Slams parliamentarians who rejected the extension, saying they should reveal their objection by resigning from the 128-member parliament.

We heard it all before from Aoun the last time, back when his block had a third of the cabinet including a defense minister who extended General Qahwaji's term.

Which is the conundrum facing Aoun. Once General Roukoz retires Aoun will have to find him a job. The government is not hiring due to the gridlock. So he will need to get him something withing the FPM organization or the OTV. But there are no vacancies there as most key positions are already filled with other relatives.
