Russia Bombs 10 IS Targets in New Syria Strikes
Russia's military said Sunday it had bombed 10 Islamic State targets in Syria over the past 24 hours in a further escalation of its campaign against the jihadist group.
"From the airbase of Hmeimim, the Russian aviation group is continuing to ramp up air strikes using high-precision missiles against the ISIS facilities in Syria," the defense ministry said.
"Over the past 24 hours SU-34, SU-24M and SU-25 jets made 20 sorties," the defense ministry said, reeling off the latest list of targets.
"Ten infrastructure targets of ISIS bandit groups have been struck," it said, using another name for IS, which is also known as ISIL or Daesh.
SU-25 jets attacked a training camp in Idlib province and "destroyed the terrorists' hideouts and a workshop making makeshift explosive devices including 'suicide belts'," the ministry said.
SU-24M and SU-34 bombers also hit eight IS facilities in the area of Jisr al-Shughur in Idlib province.
The defense ministry said the warplanes had once again deployed powerful concrete-buster munitions against IS targets.
"Four command posts of ISIS armed groups have been destroyed with the help of concrete-piercing BETAB-500 bombs," said the defense ministry.
A command post and ammunition depot were also bombed near the town of Maaret al-Numan in Idlib province.
And SU-34 bombers attacked an IS training camp and ammunition depot in Raqa province, dropping guided bombs and destroying the camp, the ministry said.
The base of Hmeimim is situated in Latakia province on the Mediterranean coast.

Russia has exposed the British, French and US hypocrisy and treachery. They have been supporting Al Qaida backed rebels against a United Nation member, legitimate government, against all international laws. They do not make the same protest against Turkey that bombs the Kurds in Syria fighting ISIS. Turkey is bombing ISIS front lines against the kurds in direct support of ISIS terrorists! ISIS now has air support! Erdogan risked by opening the gates to thousands of refuges to enter Europe... what a miscalculation. It allowed Russia to take the initiative in Syria that is backed by the majority of EU populations and almost every european nation apart from Britain and France!

i don't think Europe and the US are more united. The European nations are now more decided then ever. The central nations taking in the majority of migrants are supportive of Russia. Putin has exposed the division. The UK and French, with their Saudi and Gulf military contracts are obviously supporting their interest while Russia has trumped the Turks and Saudis by essentially entering the war on Syria's side. Even Italy, which is usually neo con Nato member (Libya) are now positive towards the Russian intervention. You can't attack ISIS when nato Turkey is fighting on their side and arming pro ISIS and Al Qaida militias. Russia has exposed them all.

humble... i'm against war. Assad is part of the solution but can no longer be the end solution. He has to go but under a negotiated settlement. That can't happen until isis and al nusra are defeated. Hopefully Russia will make this happen. Lets not pretend that the US and the "anti ISIS" coalition is for real. If they wanted to, they could end it within a few weeks, but only with boots on the ground. They won't so maybe Russia will.
