Gemayel: Who Gave Sayyed Hassan Authorization to Choose Lebanon's President?
Kataeb Party chief MP Sami Gemayel stressed Thursday that the Lebanese have not given Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah an “authorization” to choose their president.
“When did we give Sayyed Hassan an authorization to choose Lebanon's president and why would we accept to give him such an authorization,” Gemayel asked rhetorically during a meeting with Kataeb's cadres in Northern Metn.
“Sayyed Hassan is a partner in choosing the president and we are all partners. There is only one way in the Constitution for picking a president: holding a vote,” Gemayel added.
“Sayyed Hassan has declared that we either elect his candidate, (Free Patriotic Movement founder) General (Michel) Aoun, or else there won't be a president, and this is what has been happening for the past two years,” Gemayel lamented.
He warned that if the Lebanese “agree to his demand, and General Aoun becomes president, six years from now presidential candidates will form a line from Dahieh to Jounieh to seek Sayyed Hassan's approval, because he would decide the identity of the next president.”
Lebanon has been without a president since the term of Michel Suleiman ended in May 2014 and the FPM, Hizbullah and some of their allies have been boycotting the electoral sessions.
Al-Mustaqbal movement leader ex-PM Saad Hariri launched late in 2015 a proposal to nominate Marada Movement chief MP Suleiman Franjieh for the presidency but his suggestion was rejected by the country's main Christian parties, including Kataeb, as well as Hizbullah.
Hizbullah and the FPM, as well as March 14's Lebanese Forces, have argued that Aoun is more eligible than Franjieh to become president given the size of his parliamentary bloc and his bigger influence in the Christian community.

It is the 100,000 rockets he has and the illegal weapons that you all accepted to live with and have been scared to address.... that's who gives him the right.

the president is chosen through elections in parliament and not outside parliament. He is for all Lebanese and all Lebanese parties participate through their elected MPs in selecting the president.

You forgot that Gaega-Aoun agreement came about 2 years after HA boycotted elections and used arms threat to keep vacuum until HA approves the President (HA said Baabda was liberated when President Sleiman term ended and HA warned that it is vacuum or their candidate who is padf Millions by Iran.

But when Nasrallah chose Abbas Ibrahim for the Christian post of General security chief, a post stolen by the Syrians who gave it to the Shiites, Aoun's ten minsters rubber-stamped Hassan's usurping candidate without the least concern to the stolen rights of the Christians. For 6 years previous Aoun and co the hypocrites where complaining that the post was stolen and they will get it back when they ate in power.
And when Nasrallah chose Mikati over Hariri, who represents over 80% of Sunnis, for PM using his black shirted thugs, Aoun did not mind. He even gave Hariri a one way ticket. The demented senile army deserter has fatally wounded his chance to become president. If it weren't from his advanced Alzheimer he would die a broken sad man. He will be buried in Haret Hreik an area from which Christians were displaced by the war and Shiites settlers confiscated what was left.

Well said. Keep the heat on hezbollah. Every day.
Tell Berri to convene a real session & elect Helou.

"Sayyed Hassan is a partner in choosing the president and we are all partners."
See, that is the sort of mentality that is keeping the Iranian Occupation Forces in power in Lebanon - you are giving them legitimacy. Did the Lebanese (except for Jeish La7ad) say that the Israelis are their partners in choosing a president of the Lebanese Republic? No, we kicked them out because they were a foreign entity that was occupying our land and taking orders from anywhere but Baabda. Why are we treating Hizi2 bi Allah and Hasan Nasi Allah any different?

Pot calling the kettle black much? Iranian funds were responsible for the slaughter of innocent Lebanese in May 2008. Iranian funds were responsible for the misguided attack on Israeli troops in 2006 that brought hellfire and brimstone over Lebanon. Iranian funds have been responsible for Hizb making a mockery of Shia Islam. Go back to Iran and leave Lebanon to the Lebanese.
