Report: Security Situation Improving Owing to Army Efforts

The intensified security measures and precautions that have been taken by the Lebanese army lately have improved the security situation in the country, al-Joumhouria daily reported on Tuesday.

“The security situation is generally much better than it was a few weeks ago,” a prominent security source told the daily.

“Owing to the utmost readiness of the army and the tight security measures that have been taken in all the Lebanese regions and on the border. It coincided with live exercises (in Aqoura for example) and demonstrated new ways to confront terrorism,” added the source.

Lately, the army has been able to thwart several terror operations attempts that planned to target dense populated areas in the country.

The Interior Minister announced recently that the security apparatuses succeeded in foiling a terrorist scheme that planned to target nightclubs.

Since the suicide bombings rattled the Bekaa town of al-Qaa in June, the army has intensified measures and raids on the Syrian encampments in all Lebanese regions.
