Unknown assailants opened fire on the car of journalist Mustafa Mustafa Jeha, who escaped unscathed in the incident that took place on the highway south of Beirut on Saturday night, the National News Agency reported.

Jeha, 26, told police that gunmen riding a black Mercedes chased him on the Damour-Jiyeh highway before opening fire on his silver-colored Mercedes near the Oceana beach resort.

NNA said his vehicle was riddled with six bullets.

Jeha accused the perpetrators of trying to kill him the same way his father Mustafa Jeha was assassinated on Jan. 15, 1992, Voice of Lebanon radio station (93.3) reported.

Jeha, a writer and former contributor to al-Amal, a Phalange paper, was killed by unidentified gunmen while driving his car in the east Beirut suburb of Sabtiyeh.

The writer was an outspoken opponent of fundamentalism and had published works critical of the late leader of the 1979 Iranian Revolution Ayatollah Khomeini.

Many believe he was assassinated for publishing the Crisis of Mind in Islam (Mihnat al Aql fil Islam).

As long as there is the camps and HA with weapons the country will not improve, the best it could do is stagnate at this position.

FPM you should be ashamed for supporting such a militia... Pierre Rafoul in 05 said that at all costs we would push to impliment 1559, I guess it was just a farce.

once again hizbushaitan at work. when will they understand that killing people will not silence us?

Thumb jcamerican 15 April 2012, 14:00

Best place to go for killing spree is Lebanon. You will never be accused, since Hizballah will always be blamed.

When all the victims are from one camp that opposes Hezb and Syria I think such conclusion is very very reasonable

when ever a member of 14 april assassinated they have one party one target to accuse (houzboulah) and they don't want any one else to be accuse even without any prove or facts or an investigations , and when ever a member of houzboulah would be assassinated ,houzboulah will accuse Israel , if they would have the mind of terror they would have assassinate any of their member to gain mercy or support, and they would have accused the 14 April party ,

In a narrow minded society that is controlled by a totalitarian ideology voices of dissent are violently silenced.
We need more who think like Mustapha Jeha for the salvation of lebanon to happen.

Are you related to William Haddad, a uk/Lebanese man selling pastries in London who owns a flat in Tel Aviv and another house in Lebanon!?

Missing justsaying 15 April 2012, 16:37

exactly whats the point of this stupid question? You know very well that haddad is one of the most common arab surnames whether in the levant, the gulf or north africa, there are like 200 000 arabs with that last name. Clearly you only wanted to bring up this accursed lebanese man who owns a flat in "tel aviv". Why?

Default-user-icon issam (Guest) 15 April 2012, 20:42

Are you related to any of the Shia ex lahad forces? I bet u r...

Thumb jcamerican 15 April 2012, 17:04

He sold him very bad pastries. So he wants him exposed.

Thumb benzona 15 April 2012, 21:53

Actually, you're not far from the truth. This guy is married to a Palestinian and has an Israeli visa stamped on a separate sheet of his uk passport because he comes to Lebanon several times per year. How understanding the tel aviv customs are is beyond comprehension. I'm doing my duty by reporting threats to our national (in)security. After all, he's lying to our police each time he enters our country.... Yup.

The nonsense continues, M14 are killing each other to destabilize the country?
A law needs to be passed that no weapons and jail term of min of 10yrs for every citizen caught with weapons with no exceptions.
Set an example if you are serious about creating a true state with strong ISF and Army and security, but you will find that there is a group wanting to stay with close ties with foreign countries so that they receive money/arms and apply foreign policies and hegemony to continue surviving and in control but not really defending the land(i.e.2006 and 2009) because they continue brain washing their followers about zionists and the scary bad dream which is why when the truth is written by Mustafa Mustafa Jeha then we eliminate/shut his voice the same way we did it to GeaGea.

Missing tripolian 15 April 2012, 20:49

Cedar, they dont need to brainwash their people about zionists as they have seen first hand what zionists are. Facts are that zionists arent nearly as much blamed as they should be for their filthy hand is involved in most conflicts on earth. Even if we are agains weapons outside the state it doesnt mean we should belittle the evil and threat of zionists.

So, you hate Jews like Hitler and you blame them for every bad stuff like Hitler did. I bet you never met one. But you somehow believe that meeting them every day makes life miserable and that is why to murder a Jew is always justifiable. Tell me in couple words: how do you differ from the Nazis, with that mindset?
Second question: why don't 63% of Israeli Arabs from the bordering towns want to be a part of the future "Palestinian state"?

Missing peace 15 April 2012, 21:55

back to murder attempts against people who oppose hezbollah or syria...
again no one from M8 side is worried... strange isn t it?

Sabtiyeh is on a hill and beneath it is 7ay el Zaayteriyeh. Mustafa was taking courses at Middle East University when his father was shot in the head by unknown assassins.

This is proof there is no freedom of speech, religion in Lebanon.
