Workers at the State Employees' Cooperative held a sit-in on Friday across Lebanon in protest against the cabinet’s failure to approve their demands.

“Our efforts and dedication helped improve the cooperative’s work across Lebanon… but we weren’t given our simplest rights,” the employees said in a statement.

They demanded the cabinet to improve their retirement system and benefits, which they have previously presented.

The protesters announced that they will hold an open-ended strike until all their demands are met.

They added that the civil service board approved their requests “which proves their rightful demands.”

The demonstrators held the sit-ins at the cooperative offices in Beirut, Jezzine, Nabatiyeh, Sidon and Tripoli.

Hmmm... this government is doing great... congrats!
People shoot at each other, social unrest, demonstrations, abductions, strife, miss contempt... great job!
