Google Pays Tribute to 'Fermat's Last Theorem'

Google paid tribute on Wednesday to 17th century French mathematician Pierre de Fermat, transforming its celebrated homepage logo into a blackboard featuring "Fermat's Last Theorem."

Google marked what would have been Fermat's 410th birthday by replacing its logo, known as the Google "doodle," with the problem that vexed mathematicians for centuries.

MetroPCS Starts Unlimited Music Plan with Rhapsody

Sony to Slash PS3 Price

Sony is slashing the price of its PlayStation 3 game console across North America, Europe and in Japan, the company said Wednesday, as it looks to spur demand ahead of the year-end shopping season.

Sony Computer Entertainment cut the price Wednesday for 160-gigabyte PS3 from $299 to $249 in North America and from 299 euros to 249 euros in Europe, it said in a statement.

S. Koreans sue Apple over Privacy Violations

More than 20,000 South Korean iPhone users filed a class action lawsuit Wednesday against U.S. technology giant Apple for alleged privacy violations over the collection of location data, a law firm said.

The suit came after lawyer Kim Hyung-Suk was awarded one million won ($933) in compensation in June, the first such payout by Apple's Korean unit, following an interim order by a court in the southeastern city of Changwon.

A "Just For Kids" tab will be added to subscribers' accounts on Netflix's website beginning Tuesday. Clicking on the feature will pull up a list of kid-friendly recommendations drawn from about 1,000 movies and TV shows in Netflix's Internet video streaming library.
