8 آذار "ستسمي الصفدي لترؤس الحكومة بعد سلام"

Read this story in English W460

don't understand why the richest Lebanese can retire now and go live in the Maldives for the rest of their lives in paradise... no they wanna get into politics- it's an ego thing. Don't forget Safadi had an airline in the 90s that went bust yet he still made millions- oh and let's not remind everyone of the "car accident" that killed his son- why don't they just give up and let someone new take over?

Missing marhaba 11:46 ,2014 شباط 06

With all due respect, Safadi might be one of Lebanon's great crooks, but bringing up his son's death is one of the lowest things you can do.

There's a difference between public and private lives. I would discount Safadi based on his stint in the Finance Ministry and Public Works ministry. But to mention to bring into question his family is just stupid and irrelevant.

Thumb popeye 11:58 ,2014 شباط 06

Ya marhaba) It seems your definition of "private" life depends on what day of the week it is. Only yesterday you wrote "Privacy is breaking into her house to find details on her personal life. There is no infringement on her personal life here"

Did @MaddyBaddy break into Safadi's house to find details on his personal life.... I guess not. It is public information. Hypcorite

Missing marhaba 13:05 ,2014 شباط 06

Oh yeah. I forgot this point.

What MaddyBaddy mentioned about his son is borderline libel and slander. What he mentioned about the airline/wealth/ego are valid political points. Safadi should be held to account for his corruption.

Thumb MaddyBaddy 13:28 ,2014 شباط 06

What car accident? It never happened- and to quote my bad-self "let's not remind everyone" so subject and case closed

wolfy… bad boy, very bad boy… we told you not to come back until you were housebroken.

Thumb ice-man 08:33 ,2014 شباط 06

Missing --karim_m1--- 08:14 ,2014 شباط 06

Exactly Wolf. Lebanon will become an international laughingstock if a genocidal, mass murderer (who has massacred THOUSANDS of Lebanese civilians) even ran for President.

Thumb lebanesenationalist 08:14 ,2014 شباط 06

We're so advanced now, that we plan for two cabinets in advance. Wow, impressive..

Thumb cedars2 08:33 ,2014 شباط 06

Um wasnt Safadi accused of corruption in the airport road flood? In civilized countries he would be facing charges not being appointed PM-designate. Only in Lebanon huh. I think its time for a revolution, there is no other way.

go take a hike and stop talking about civilization you iranian hypocrite.

Agreed cedars2. Unfortunately, almost everyone in a position of power to be nominated for a leadership position is tainted by corruption. The non-corrupted (barely) are all those with no power.

As for a revolution, I don't mind waiting till it calms down in Syria. It's very easy to hijack a legitimate revolution, and get it involved in the Syrian civil war, especially by all those who currently hold on to power (HA and Mustaqbal included).

Thumb lebanon_first 08:44 ,2014 شباط 06

I prefer they name Hariri

Default-user-icon logic (ضيف) 10:02 ,2014 شباط 06

as well as christians other than jubran bassil and aoun and shia other than nasrallah and berri?

Missing marhaba 13:10 ,2014 شباط 06

From a person who opposes almost everything the mustaqbal stands for, Sanioura was a much better PM than Hariri. If they're going to name a non-nobody (like Mikati, Salam, Safadi), the country is better off with Sanioura than Hariri.

Thumb ice-man 14:48 ,2014 شباط 06

marhaba @Jaafar:) Allah Yihmeek Ya Rabb for these wonderful ideas. Role model indeed.

Thumb lebanon_first 15:09 ,2014 شباط 06

In a normal situation I would have agreed to siniora or a new figure.
However today the best symbol of national reconciliation would be hariri premier. And in the face of takfiri threats we need him to bring the on the fence Sunnites towards moderation

For God's sake let cheikh Saad al-Haribi Telteyn al-Marajil land at Damascus airport. We really miss him here in Lebanon, and miss his natural comic shows. Please! After all, Sami, Nadim and Nayla miss the fourth partner at the Kindergarten playground of the Lebanese parliament.

FT ur right moudawara in the 1 2 3 top positions in Lebanon
the only way where everyone will be equal
plus a proportional election system
god bless lebanon

Missing marhaba 13:12 ,2014 شباط 06

Agreed FT.

The best time to have done this was 2005, but petty political miscalculations deprived us all of this chance.

Thumb FlameCatcher 14:36 ,2014 شباط 06

No problem. But this would also involve the banning of all Lebanese parties and politicians involved in Lebanon's war(s). They should also ALL be put on trial without exception for high treason, war crimes, crimes against humanity, corruption, manipulation, trafficking, money laundering ...

Let's remove the trash and start clean!

Are you ready to let go of your leaders ?

Thumb cedars2 14:59 ,2014 شباط 06

Mudawara sure why not? Any of the three (President, PM and Speaker of the house) can block anything as we have seen so what difference does it make. But not this old archaic mafia that we have running the country. We are the "not so silent" majority!! We want justice, we want infastructure, we want peace and we want madmen to stop releasing statements that paralyze the country!! We need 3 million people in martyrs square ASAP and after we have that number there is no turning back anymore, down with everything the old corrupt archaic decaying oxygen blocking system stands for. We then ask for fair and free elections controlled by the most democratic foundation that can be found and we start anew. Politicians who have committed crimes even during the war face trial. Religion is not mentioned in the new order, religion is something you practice in a mosque or church not in parliament.

Thumb FlameCatcher 12:13 ,2014 شباط 06

Great ... this is the best Aoun can suggest for PM ? Might as well nominate himself... it would be better!

Missing peace 13:00 ,2014 شباط 06

wahahaha! safadi? PM? what a joke... poor lebanon....

Missing watan-libnan 15:49 ,2014 شباط 06

I'm sure every lebanese citizen would not care if the government ruled equally for all lebanese no matter what their religion or belief is we should separate church and state and all politicians to be given ministerial positions are given based on competence does anyone agree?

Thumb eli-g 17:29 ,2014 شباط 06
