He is grasping at straws again . Bassill said ther is no Saudi or US veto on Aoun. The reality is that there is no US or Saudi veto on any potential candidate. All are on record as saying the Lebanese are free to choose their President, largely because it doesn't matter to outside powers. The office has no strategic importance to them, it is simply a Christian set aside without much legal power or authority at all. That power is with the PM and Counsel of Ministers.

I might see that allying with HA is a better alliance than Mustaqbal, however, I just could not ever go with Aoun. We all know he would sell his mother to be president. Its all he cares about.
