At some point in the distant past, the Maronites were dominating Lebanon and eating everything. All the good jobs were devoured by them and they denied all the different sects in lebanon the chance of getting anything. Look now who is talking. I am a greek Orthodox Christian and know full well how things worked in Lebanon. His father also was one of a kind raising the issue of maronatism high leading to Lebanon not becoming a real country. That's why today we have this disintegrated Lebanon.

Once again kudos for describing Syria's political tactics to a "T"! We'll forgive you the erroneous US mention as a Freudian slip.

They've been saying that Hezbollah will one day dominate Lebanon since the early 1990s....still hasn't happened.

The Shiites are 69% of the Lebanese population and they should control Lebanon. Besides Nasrallah said that the Christians came as invaders and that this is originally an Islamic land so the Shiites are taking back what belongs to them.

Naharnet says Gemayel "notes" this. It's nice to know where Naharnet stands on democracy and civil rights, since Hezbullah is already by rights the legitimate government, given that the majority of Lebanese are Shiites, and Mr. Berri doesn't represent them or even want to. Is this rejection of democracy like the Jewish state: a disguised suicide attempt? I'd advise against it, but you know the saying, "Never stand in a man's way."
