تقدمت إثنان وخمسون شركة من كبرى شركات العالم النفطية بطلبات للتنقيب عن الغاز في المياه اللبنانية.
وقال وزير الطاقة والمياه جبران باسيل في مؤتمر صحفي الخميس من مقر الوزارة في المتحف أن "اثنين وخمسين شركة تقدمت بالطلب".
وعدد مستشار لباسيل الشركات وأبرزها "ستات أويل وإكسون موبيل".
وشرح الوزير بدوره أن "الشروط هي قانونية أولا ومالية ثانيا أهمها المشغل يجب أن يكون لديه موجودات مالية بـ10 مليار دولار وغير مشغل 500 مليون دولار وتقنية ثالثا وصحية بيئية عامة".
وشرح أنه "تقريبا معظم شركات العالم تقدمت ما يدل على ثقة بلبنان".
كذلك شدد على ان "لبنان بلد نفطي وعملية تلزيم الشركات كانت شفافة لأنه وضع لها معايير ناجحة لا تحتمل أي تفسير وهناك شركات كثيرة لم تقدم طلبا لأنها لا تحقق الشروط الكاملة".
وختم باسيل قائلا أنها "عيدية للبنانيين في الأعياد المباركة وهذا يدل على أن قيامة لبنان آتية لا محالة".
في 21 شباط الفائت اطلق باسيل دراسة المسوحات الزلزالية الثنائية الأبعاد للتنقيب عن النفط والغاز في الاراضي اللبنانيية التي قد تحول البلد، بحسب باسيل، الى مركز نفطي اقليمي.
وقال باسيل حينها "توصلنا إلى اتفاق مع شركة سبكتروم يقضي بمسح بري ثنائي الأبعاد يمتد على مسافة 500 كلم وتم تحديد هذه المسافة بطريقة تضمن تخطي المسافات التي تم حفرها بين عامي 1947 و1968، وبهدف تحسين تقديراتنا الخاصة بمشاريعنا المتعلقة بالمسح البري، ما يسمح لنا لاحقا باطلاق عملية التلزيم للمشاريع البرية بعد تحضير القوانين اللازمة وإصدارها".
واقر مجلس النواب اللبناني في آب 2010 قانونا للموارد النفطية يتيح التعامل مع الاحتياطات المحتملة للنفط والغاز في المياه الاقليمية.
ووجود حقول نفطية بحرية اثار توترات مع اسرائيل التي هي في حالة حرب مع لبنان وسط التنازع على الثروة البحرية.

no need to the jewish link. Exon is not linked to jews. And it is definitely not going to be bombed by israel. Plus Bassil knows that. he explicitely said that americans are a factor of stability in lebanon. (coming from HA's ally...) i find it a bit weird...

I would give the bid to a country that has sexy/cute ladies. They'll go to Lebanon to work and some fun, and the guys show them real Lebanese hospitality. Seriously, may the a German Company. In the past, they've had a dialogue with our neighboring country.

The bidding process must be transparent. It doesn't matter if it is Bassil or anyone else who handles this. In most orderly countries, public tenders are subject to public scrutiny.

Uuh... You're talking to me? If so, how did you assume that I hate Bassil? All I'm saying is that multi-million public tenders should be open to public scrutiny like the in rest of the civilized world. Lebanon has a long history of under-the-table deals at the expense of the citizens.

Well Phoenix, when I suggest that public tenders should be open to public scrutiny, I'm being told to "live with it or start packing" (see above). The thuggish insect is alive and well in some of us. So what you wrote in your latest two posts will be tragically perpetuated unless something radical is done at the grass-root level.
