People have been waiting for justice to be served since feb 14 2005..... Followed by July 2006 and 1000+ casualities, billions of $ lost, Lebanon's image took a hit. Then came may 2008.... Hassan Nasrallah and Assad keep humiliating our army and every decent Lebanese. I'm surprised we've had so few Assirs. Now, Nasrallah is slaughtering thousands of Syrians among them poor kids and women... And we're expected to smile at these people when they return to Beirut and bump into them in the street? Hell no!

WE WANT JUSTICE, EQUAL JUSTICE....

i dont see any double standards what the hell are you talking about?! when HA attacked the army in 2008, they were brought to justice and there were 20 killed in Chiyah alone. Rarely did HA refuse to handover a culprit the way Assir and his supporters are doing. Here you see the problem in clear relief. The LAF in surrounding the hiding place of Asir in order to bring him to justice is the LAF performing exactly its proper task, along with the ISF to maintain order in the country.

On the other hand, on June 9, just 2 weeks ago, at the sit members of the Lebanese Option Gathering, at the Iranian Embassy, Hashem Salman was murdered in cold blood and in broad daylight in front of elements of the Lebanese Internal and Security Forces and the killer was not stopped.

Why the double standard? Is it because Hezbollah is stronger than the official Lebanese Forces and so the official forces do not take on Hezbollah? Is it because Hezbollah controls the political decision of the official Lebanese Forces? Maybe a combination.
But the perception is created that the Official Lebanese Forces enforce the law against the Sunni, while looking the other way when Hezbollah commits crimes in broad daylight and within eye sight of elements of the official forces. It appears that one group is granted rights and privileges that others are denied. The Sunni preachers are picking up on this and using it as fodder to incite sedition against the Government.
@josh-bustany. Your statement is literally true. However, the violence done by Hezbollah to the Lebanese Army, and its ability to perform its mission, is much more profound than what is happening in Sidon.

As an outsider looking in, this is very sad for the Lebanese people. I have visited your amazing country 10 times in the past 4 years and each time I leave I can't help but to think that Lebanon should be one of the best places to live or visit in the entire world. Unfortunately, the reality is there exists a small minority that dampers an otherwise magnificent place and the future of it's citizens. I will be praying for peace....regardless of religious beliefs.

I always hold your views in high esteem because you always appear to present a balanced perspectives. That said, in two of your recent comments since this debacle began you alluded to KSA being the one that gave orders for Assir to make a move. In the interest of fairness, especially since you hold others to presenting facts not conjecture, one is compelled to point your that insinuation about KSA having ordered Assir is pure conjecture and personal opinion not fact. Please either own up to this or present incontrovertible evidence to support your views.

Before my views get misconstrued, their can be no other outcome to this confrontation but the army prevailing over Assir's misguided and extreme followers. HA being outlaws can not and does not justify any other outcome.
That said, the Sunnis of Lebanon are under extreme stress. HA's actions in Syria are only adding to this stress thereby hastening the explosion point.
After dealing with Assir et. al., it behooves the army to then handle the presence of arms and armed elements in those apartments as claimed by Assir or at least prove otherwise by clearly showing those apartments to the public.

Here we go again, another extremist hiding out in a refugee camp and surrounding himself by Islamic fanatics that will wage war on our army. This mode of operation isn’t acceptable. Once he is captured/killed full investigation should take place to root out who was funding this terrorist and his group and providing him with political cover. His backers and harbourers are as guilty as he is and they must also be made to answer for their actions no matter who they are backed by (i.e future backed by KSA). Fanatical Muslims must be dealt with once and for all, enough is enough.. Every decade or two they mount a rise against Christians and other minority groups in Lebanon and they always seem to be backed by the KSA.
