Mercedes Boss Says F1 Should Reconsider Double Points

Formula One may need to reconsider its decision to award double points for the final race of the season after a fan backlash, says Mercedes executive director Toto Wolff.

After Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel won the title for a fourth straight year and with three races to go, F1 tweaked the rules by doubling the points for the final race in a move aimed at keeping fans and TV viewers interested until the season's end.

But Wolff, who forms part of the F1 strategy group which approved the change, said that "99 percent of spectators and fans thought it was the wrong move. So maybe it is time to revisit it."

Vettel has criticized the decision, and Mercedes' driver Nico Rosberg noted that "it's not good."
