Rouhani Says Iran 'Serious' about Talks on Final Nuclear Deal

President Hassan Rouhani said Monday Iran is "serious" about negotiations on a comprehensive deal with world powers over its controversial nuclear drive, a week before fresh talks in Vienna.
"Iran is ready to enter negotiations with the P5+1 (group of world powers) to reach a comprehensive and final agreement," Rouhani told Tehran-based foreign diplomats in remarks broadcast live on state television.
"We are serious in this regard, as we were serious in the first step," he said referring to three rounds of intensive negotiations last year that culminated in a landmark, interim deal on November 24.
Under the accord, Iran agreed to temporarily cap parts of its nuclear activities amid suspicions in the West and Israel that its work masks military objectives despite its repeated denials.
In exchange, it received modest relief from crippling international sanctions as well as a promise by Western powers that new sanctions would not be imposed against it during the six-month duration of the interim deal, which came into effect on January 20.
In the next round of talks, Iran and the P5+1 group -- the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany -- are to strive for a comprehensive accord that would once and for all solve the decade-long standoff over Iran's nuclear drive.
Iranian negotiators and counterparts from the P5+1 will resume the talks in Vienna on February 18 in a process that is expected to last months.
Rouhani's remarks came a day after Iran and the U.N. nuclear watchdog struck a seven-step deal in separate but parallel negotiations that seek to enhance transparency over Tehran's nuclear work.
That deal included a promise by Iran to clarify its use of detonators as part of a probe into long-standing allegations that its past nuclear work, mostly before 2003, had "possible military dimensions."

Till now u have been a great progress since ur predecesor (ahmadinajad) mr rouhani i hope u will be strong enough to keep head against hardliners backing khoumayini, maybe getting iran out of obscurantism and fanatics bassij and iranian guardian of the revolution..
Giving also a litle freedome to ur population like internet access would also help..
Anyway good luck mr rouhani..

let us see when the hardliners will kill him. lost chances of peace.

They already have internet access, it is one of the most progressiv countries in the region, everything Iran has is something they produced themselves. So all this western propaganda is crap imagine.
For the atomic matter, Iran has every right to create peaceful nuclear technology.

They were dowing campagnes a month ago for non restricted internet access, rouhani got blamed from some hardliners for using twitter (forbiden)...
Man please put out ur head from..SANA and please go have some chupachups...

Not really. It is all purchased or borrowed technology. Oil money does wonders. Progressive, really? Throughout the history, not much peace has come out of the Persians. Shall we remind you of the alleged Israeli/Lebanese was of 2006.

anony, Iran has food for all it's people. Noone is starving overthere as they did under the Shah, they produce and farm all their food themselves, and i can tell you the western sanctions do not hurt one bit, there will always be good non western countries to do buisness with.

One order and episode anony, even if that is true you know aswell as i, that it doesn't affect the whole food industry. You guys really are funny. Especially you americans, how about your country that suffers from 30% unemployment.

Rouhani is as serious as a heart attack and as serious as his fake degree from Scotland.

He's serious alright, but not about abandoning his nuclear program. The region does not work this way. This is like the handcuffed blind folded man who has a tasty morsel put out before him on a stick just beyond his reach and they lead him around in a futile effort to sate his appetite on a morsel that he'll never get.
