GCC Urges Serious Reforms, End to Syrian Bloodshed

Gulf Arab states on Saturday turned up the heat on Damascus, joining a growing chorus of pressure after Syrian security forces shot dead at least 22 people as tens of thousands staged anti-regime protests.

The six-member Gulf Cooperation Council called for an "immediate end to violence... and bloodshed."

Its statement urged a "resort to wisdom and introducing serious and necessary reforms that would protect the rights and dignity of the (Syrian) people, and meet their aspirations."

That call followed a pledge by the U.S., French and German leaders to consider new steps to punish Syria after a deadly crackdown on the first Friday of Ramadan, the holy Muslim month of fasting.

President Barack Obama spoke separately to France's Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel as Western nations cranked up pressure on Syrian leader Bashar Assad.

Unless Bashar feels a physical threat on his life, he is going no where. He has got money and power and wouldn't care if the entire Syrian population die of hunger! A coup by the army would be in order right about now

As expected , Spineless Arab dictators would not dare to take any effective measures to stop the barabaric Syrian regime.
Empty words cannot help those butchered, besieged and suffering under the direst conditions in Syria.
At least create a fund to encourage the Syrian army members to desert and join the ranks of the opposition while they still get paid.

Nobody is more morally superior than they! Just look at how quickly and humanely they resolved the problems in Bahrain. They are now ready to get involved in solving Saudi Arabia's problems. That's how qualified they are. Hey idiots, Israel is also having serious problems. Why don't you help? Perhaps your help will cause Israel to vanish, and then all the other problems will be resolved and the whole world will be happy. Give it a try.

These so called Arab countries of the " Persian " Gulf , are now interfering openly in the Syrian problem !

They were interfering secretly before and helping their brothers the Ekhwan , Muslium Sunnis brotherhood , equiped them and financed them , to overthrow the Alaouite regime !!

They should be very careful , in case the Syrian regime falls , wich I doubt ! the same thing will happen to them in worse .

As the proverb says ; the one that has his home made of glass , should not throw stones on others ...
