Hizbullah: Labweh Road was Blocked to Call for Army Deployment in Arsal

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Hizbullah said Wednesday that the residents of the eastern town of al-Labweh had blocked the village’s road for having a single demand, which is the deployment of the army in the rival village of Arsal.

Reading a statement from parliament ahead of the vote of confidence session, Hizbullah's Minister Hussein al-Hajj Hassan said: “The military's deployment will help control the security and constrain actions that are harmful to Arsal.”

He said the residents blocked the Labweh-Arsal road after the fall of rockets on several Shiite towns and following car bombs in several regions, mainly Hermel, and despite appeals by the residents for the state to carry out its responsibilities to deploy in areas under attack.

“They had a single demand, which was the deployment of the army in Arsal,” the statement said.

“This is a patriotic request,” he told reporters.

“There shouldn't be any hindrance to the preservation of security. This is not just about Arsal but all areas in Lebanon,” he said.

“There shouldn't be any rejection for the army and security forces to enter any area or any town in Lebanon,” the Hizbullah minister added.

The army deployed in the Sunni town of Arsal along the border with Syria early Wednesday, reopening the main road out of the town after a night of tension.

The town had been sealed off by residents from the mostly-Shiite neighboring town of al-Labweh.

The closure of the main road out of Arsal prompted fury among Sunnis in other parts of Lebanon, and many took to streets across the country, including Beirut, on Tuesday night to burn tires in protest.

On Monday, several rockets struck al-Labweh and al-Nabi Othman near Arsal.

Some angry al-Labweh residents claimed the rockets were fired from Arsal and closed off the main road.

But the blockade also appeared to be aimed at containing a fresh influx of Syrian rebels and refugees into Arsal since Sunday, when President Bashar Assad's troops and his Hizbullah allies captured the opposition stronghold of Yabrud just across the border.

Hizbollah logic : maybe there are injured rebels in Arsal, so lets block the unique road to Arsal, punishing 65k LEBANESE and 100+k syrian refugees. This proves us that if Khomeynists had total power in Lebanon, they would do to sunnis worse than bashar...

Thumb Mystic 19 March 2014, 12:59

I told you cedre, LAF joined the blocking effort aswell. The Resistance are working with the state as always.

Missing ArabDemocrat.com 19 March 2014, 13:31

Mystic delusions are gettinng serious. The Hizb went into Syria without state permission and got us into an enmity with much of the Syrian people. Do we really believe that the Sunni majorrity in Syria will soon forget and forgive? They invaded Beirut and mount Lebanon because they did not like a government decision. They threatened to do the same in 2008. And we all listened to the chorus of threats recently if a government is formed that is not to their liking. No the Hezb does not work with the state. It wants the state to work for it.

OMG, look at HHH, he has a Lebanese flag behind him. I wonder if it is the same flag HA guy removed from a pole in Lebanon threw it on the ground and replacce it with a HA flag back in 2005. But this one looks new, maybe he believes in Lebanon now or maybe to fool us into thinking so.

Thumb zahle1 19 March 2014, 12:37

I agree that Arsal will be the next Nahr el bard. However I think that may be the tipping point. We need to get all foreign arms out of Lebanon and all foreign militants. It doesn't look like HA will disarm soon. So the only thing that will happen is the militarization of Sunni first and Christians next. Or HA backs off then things get better. If they use their influence to shame Sunni in the name of terrorism it won't work. There are too many takfiri coming here but there are too many normal Sunni tired of the double standard.

Thumb zahle1 19 March 2014, 12:38

I wish the LAF would control the palestininain camps.

Thumb FlameCatcher 19 March 2014, 12:44

So if I have a "patriotic request" to stop Hezbollah idiots from shooting bullets in the air that rain back down on Beirut whenever Nasrallah farts on TV, this means I can block the roads to Dahyé until the army deploys there ?

Hezbollah is conducting ILLEGAL actions all over the country and its neither their role to block roads nor their right to do so.

They should be held accountable for disrupting public freedoms and holding this town hostage.

If they want the army to deploy, there are legal ways to get them to do so including Government and parliament ! Like any normal SOVEREIGN country!

Thumb -phoenix1 19 March 2014, 12:48

I believe that our situation in Lebanon is as dire as finding a pin in a stack of hay, quite possibly a lot worse. We cannot, and also musn't look at the situation in present day real time factor, but what in truth led to it. Irrespective of what Hezbollah may want to say to the contrary, it got involved in the Syrian problem well before it turned into a full scale war. Their Sunni opponents on the surface should be blamed for following HA into Syria, but would it be fair to blame them? Now the only sensible thing to do, for every Lebanese involved in Syria, is to draw back, pull back and salvage the little left in overall goodwill. It should convince everyone involved, HA included, that the alternative to dialog and common sense are fearful and staggering to say the least.

Missing forces 20 March 2014, 09:28

well said Phoenix, the voice of reason is often muted by the voice of hate and violence.
my problem however is this..how many indiscretions must we say oh well lets put this one and that one behind us before we say enough is enough we have a god given right to a simple thing called peace and a future fr our children. i for one have had enough and would prefer we draw the line in the sand and make our stand..

Missing ArabDemocrat.com 19 March 2014, 13:35

Yes Josephani - anyone opposed to the criminal regime in Syria is a takfiri terrorist. That makes the majority of the population as takfiri terrorists. But why do you not say what you really mean? "You Sunnis are losing everywhere! LOL"

the LAF should cleanse dahiye and all other regions where hizbushaitan exists with their Iranian guards.

Default-user-icon Atlas Turns (Guest) 20 March 2014, 18:21

Lol, I wish you'd try.

Thumb ex-fpm 19 March 2014, 14:29

those calling for such action forgot who was at the forefront of the siege of Nahr Bared, They were mainly sunni elements of the LAF. Attacking Arsal or any other Sunni town (I doubt this will ever happen by the LAF) will result in the army's disintegration from within. The two situations are completely different, However, sectarianism is way too obvious in the above posts.

Thumb ex-fpm 19 March 2014, 15:08

that's why they beat up the ISF and curse them. All army check points are co manned by HA elements. All army personnel have to be vetted and pre screened before assigned to dahieh.

Thumb geha 19 March 2014, 15:24

I am not hitler to want to cleanse whichever region!

this sectarian thinking is just like someone saying let us cleanse Lebanon from all shia! is this acceptable?

sectarian statements are so clear with you guys when it comes to sunnis, and no surprise there: shia have always hated sunnis.

but at least have the decency to be human: we are talking about a sunni region of over 50000 person, including women and children.

Thumb cedre 19 March 2014, 16:47

Why should LAF enter Arsal to implement HizbIran/Assad policies ?
Let HizbIran/Assad do it... Why would christian soldiers like Major Pierre Bachaalany die for Bashar ?

Thumb cedre 19 March 2014, 17:33

i'm saying that if bachaalani had the choice and knew what he was doing in arsal, he wouldn't have gone, imho...
Why would lebanese christians die for the assads that massacred them ?
Btw, u know he wasn't killed by hujairis...

Securing/stabilizing Lebanese territory and keeping the peace is now a "HizbIran/Assad" policy?

Thumb zahle1 19 March 2014, 17:55

I believe that the Syrian Regime and the Takfiri/Nusra/Palestinians/ISIL are all the enemies of Christians. I believe at the time of the above speech he needed to rally his people. I understand that HA allowed or enabled the regime to do what they did. I just don't believe that HA hates my religion. I do believe the Takfiri and ISIL do hate our religion. However, I cannot trust HA to do anything for me, because I believe they follow Iran's orders. I feel we are stuck either way.

Thumb zahle1 20 March 2014, 00:47

Christians did kill Christians. That was a very sad tragic thing. Franjieh and Zgharta throughout history were defenders of Christianity. Palestinians do have a sizable population worldwide. I was referring to the ones in Lebanon. This should have been obvious to you. The PLO in Lebanon that slaughtered us in Damour...were not your Christians from Ramallah and Nazareth. I am referring to Christian Lebanese. Yes in Syria the Christians like Bashar, and he treated them ok because he had them under his feet. Lebanese Christians want better then that in my opinion. I'm not saying HA loves me, I am not an HA supporter outside of what they did to Israel. They may not like me, or want Christians to have power. I am just saying I do not believe they hate my religion as a sect, or a majority. They do not kill us in the name of God that is all I am saying.

Knowing God is far better, whether your Christian or Muslim... maybe we have many enemies but we are only strong when we know who we truly are.

You know the country (and region) is in a bad state when they think the only thing that unites them is a common enemy! How can enmity be the basis of building a nation? When Lebanese learn to unite under the idea of a Lebanon that is prosperous and peaceful for every Lebanese, that's when we start building a nation. Not by deciding who is our number one enemy!

Maybe you should give that civilized advise to your not-so-civilized comrades in Tripoli who have been on a campaign of killing and maiming Alawites for years.
