An explosion rocked on Monday the residence of Hussein Abou Bakr in the northern region of Akkar, reported the National News Agency.

It said that the explosion occurred in the town of Fnaidiq in the region of al-Qamoua in Akkar in the morning

Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq ordered that an investigation be launched into the incident.

He urged the residents to “show solidarity during the critical phase that Lebanon is passing through,” calling on them to “reject strife that some sides are striving to ignite” in Akkar.

“Akkar is the region of coexistence, forgiveness, and civil peace among all the Lebanese sects,” remarked the minister.

Meanwhile, head of the al-Qatii municipality Abdul Ilah Zakaria said that the state should address the incident and “uncover those who are seeking strife.”

“Are they trying to transform Fnaidiq into another Arsal?” he wondered.

He demanded that the security forces and army should redeploy in al-Qmoua region.

“The residents of Fnaidiq will not remain silent over the explosion and they are insistent on finding out who the criminals are,” he stressed.

“We will not however resort to autonomous security and we therefore hope that the concerned officials will tackle this issue. We abide by the rule of the state and stand by the army and security forces,” Zakaria asserted.
