Mustaqbal, Kataeb Adhere to Geagea's Candidacy for Presidency

The March 14 alliance is carrying out consultations among its factions to guarantee the success of its candidate for the presidential elections and to avert any possible vacuum at the helm of the country's most important Christian post, local newspapers reported on Saturday.

According to al-Joumhouria newspaper, al-Mustaqbal movement chief Saad Hariri's envoy former MP Ghattas Khoury held separate talks on Friday with the head of the Lebanese Forces, Samir Geagea, and Kataeb Party leader Amin Gemayel to evaluate the first parliamentary vote and the possible scenarios for the upcoming round.

Sources close to al-Mustaqbal told An Nahar daily that the meeting with Geagea tackled all the available options regarding the presidential polls and the necessity to end any vacuum.

The sources stressed that al-Mustaqbal movement is exerting efforts to press the staging of the presidential elections within the constitutional deadline as the March 14 coalition is “holding on to its candidate.”

March 14 sources told An Nahar that “Geagea is still the alliance's sole choice.”

Labor Minister Sejaan Qazzi, who is also the deputy chief of the Kataeb party, told al-Joumhouria newspaper that “the party supports Geagea for the presidency despite the fact that Gemayel's candidacy remains an option.”

Last week, March 14 leaders convened at the Center House and declared Geagea as their candidate for presidency.

Wednesday's first round of parliamentary deliberations to vote for a new president failed to elect a president after no candidate secured the two-thirds of the votes needed to win and many lawmakers cast blank ballots and then left the parliament hall, leading to a lack of quorum.

The parliament will hold a second vote on April 30, in which the winning candidate will need only a simple majority of 65 votes.

Lets get something straight, Aoun who at the time was the General of the Army, the generals responsibility is to protect the country and its people. Especially when there is no leadership as per the constitution during a war. That being said I'm all for out with the old and in with the new. All of names you mentioned should let the younger generation lead and I don't mean nephews, sons or daughters.

Dabstract, sorry to disagree a little here with you. True, there was a time when Aoun was general of the army, but when Gemayel vacated the presidency, Aoun was mandated as interim PM to oversee the governance of the country. What he did thereafter had nothing to do with his mandate, Aoun simply overstepped every limit of his authority. The seat, then, and now, that's all that Aoun wants. But as far as the rest of you post is concerned, yes, I am with you 100%.

So far the only one with a good plan for the country. second round should exclude aoun as he said he will not compete against geagea and wants to be guarantees consensus before putting up his hand. leaving again helou and geagea, helou however is not whole heartedly in the race as he has said his preference was not to run as he felt this president will be a vacuum. Leaving geagea as the only one willing to takle the real issues. If jumblot and co cannot agree to support geagea then no one wins and we do it again.. Hopefully they either support geagea in his bid, or all agree on a worthy consensual nominee that has sufficient character to tackle the real issues, otherwise it's the same old result regardless of who gets in..

Official: FSA Terrorist chief Ahmed Jarba held a telephone conversation with LF leader Samir Geagea to inform him every Islamist terrorist group including the FSA supports his candidacy for the presidential post.

Flamethrower- did you justify the massacres commited by jumblat and deny Aoun's? Wow little man. You truly have no shame or you are the most gullible human being to ever walk on the face of earth.

This is not the first time nor will it be the last time that Farts 14 and Sanni First adhere to a losing and disastrous (to them, of course) project. Will they ever learn? Obviously not.

So an Idiot above said that the Nasrallah Stabilized Syria. At what expense of the Lebanese state and its citizens? The reason why President Suleiman at his end days was hated by Hizbollah because he stated the truth and the true color of the militia that is overpowering and undermining the state authority. The question again how do we stabilize Lebanon and avoid creating an excuse such as Assir? Check and see where Ali Eid is and his Son, Why is it stable now in Tripoli? simply because Nasrallah's supporter and his armed gangsters are GONE, so when the takfiris show up now then they will end up in Roumieh.

States authority? More like Israels & Americas. Since they are the ones you Kataeb people work with. The Resistance are in full support of the LAF.

Missing helicopter 27 April 2014, 02:49

Yes Mystic STATE AUTHORITY that HA undermines all the time.
Samer Hanna was shot by HA after his Helicopter landed, the killer is free.
The LAF and ISF are not permitted to apprehend any thug in Dahye or within HA areas without first getting permission to do so from HA.
HA supporters do not pay for electricity ... ask residents of Qana (I know that first hand).
Botros Harb would be assassin is taking cover and protection by HA.
Examples are countless, but to you it is all the same.

Empty slurs and garbage words. You should put your head in the toilet, whenever you open your mouth. You have to live with, you takfiris are loosing, and your beloved Al Qaeda are killing each other off.

Mystic speaking of which, remember to flush every time after you go to the toilet because every time you flush you contribute to the welfare and health of the Resistance by feeding it's divine leader.

Your takfiri brothers in Qatalmoun & Yabroud, actually contribute alot to mother nature, by fertilizing the earth there, best thing they could ever do to the world.

Yes Mystic and that's a good thing, between them and the HA mercs planted there I foresee future generation of Syrians benefiting from a first grade cocktail of fossil fuel.

Thumb Mystic 27 April 2014, 00:21

Well it will be you Americans, that will turn to fossils, if your troops ever set foot on Lebanon, Syria or Iran for that matter.

Missing hajjradwan 27 April 2014, 00:38

I am sure Mystic if we dig up the dead dude in your avatar prop him up in the front seat of his Suzuki, even in the decomposing state he must be in righ now and with his brain still blown out, he would have more coherent intelligent things to say than you do.

Thumb Mystic 27 April 2014, 01:04

I would like to see you try.

Missing hajjradwan 27 April 2014, 01:43

Let me get this straight, so you want me to try and dig up Mughnieh all decomposed with his brain blown up, prop him up in his Suzuki and have a chat with what remains of him just for you to find out if he is more coherent and intelligent than you are? You know what Mystic, I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't even have to be Mughnieh any decomposing old corpse would do, but reading your posts is proof enough for, making the experiment unnecessary. But what the hell knock yourself out and go try it anyway.

Thumb Mystic 27 April 2014, 02:30

Hey smart mouth, I told you to try it, but then it would be your own grave you'd be digging.
