إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe Union of Public Transportation Drivers held a demonstration on Monday, warning the government that its protest would expand if it did not meet its demands.
In remarks to Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3), the head of the union, Abdul Amir Najdeh, called for the amendment of the traffic laws and urged the authorities to stop non-Lebanese drivers, who have left the market saturated.
Najdeh also called for allowing drivers to benefit from the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
He warned that the union would take “escalatory” measures if the government gave them the cold shoulder.
The union staged two protests on Monday.
Drivers headed separately from both the Cola and Dora areas of the capital towards Riad al-Solh square in downtown Beirut and met there.
