“Three unknown armed men riding in a Mercedes car opened fire at Mohammed Abbas Talal Shqeir and the bullets hit his head,” state-run National News Agency reported.
Shqeir succumbed to his wounds at the Dar al-Hikma Hospital in Baalbek, NNA added.
The shooters' car then “overturned due to excessive speed and collided into a sand hill on the road of the (Bekaa) town of Maqneh,” said the agency.
“They left the vehicle and intercepted a car driven by A. Y., who was accompanied by his son Ali, an army conscript,” NNA added.
The gunmen robbed the conscript of his wallet, which contained his military ID before fleeing towards Maqneh on foot, according to the agency.
“A military ID carrying the name of K. M. M. and a vehicle registration document with the name of S. I. A.” were found in the gunmen's car, NNA said.
