The General Security Department said Friday that it has arrested several Lebanese and a Syrian in southern Lebanon for forming a money counterfeit network.

A patrol from the department raided two apartments in the southern towns of al-Dweir and Mayfadoun on Thursday and arrested four Lebanese and a Syrian national, it said in a communique.

The suspects were apprehended on charges of forming a counterfeit ring and the possession of a gun.

The members of the patrol confiscated a currency printing machine, and counterfeit bank notes and gold and silver coins, the communique added.

The case was referred to the judiciary for further investigation.

The terror party and its supporters continue their illegal activities unabated and with no regard for the law. The security forces should eradicate them wherever they happen to be.
