Hashish-Filled Apricots Seized at Zahle Prison

Security forces on Tuesday seized a quantity of hashish hidden inside apricots at a jail in the Bekaa city of Zahle.
"In a rigorous inspection operation, inspectors at the Zahle prison managed to seize around three kilograms of apricots that contained hashish hidden inside each piece in the form of fruit seeds,” the Internal Security Forces announced in a communique.
The statement said the operation took place when Lebanese national Y.S. tried to deliver the fruits to an inmate, along with other goods.
The judicial authority ordered the arrest of the smuggler and he was handed over to the anti-drug bureau in the Bekaa, according to the ISF.
In a similar incident, security men at the Roumieh prison thwarted back in October an attempt to smuggle explosive material through sandwiches.
