'Free Sunnis Brigade' to Mashnouq: You Won't be Able to Stop Us from Staging Our Operations

Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq revealed that tweets by the so-called “Free Sunnis Brigade” were in fact made by a foreign intelligence agency, reported the daily An Nahar on Sunday.

He did not disclose to the daily further details on the matter.

But the shadowy brigade was quick to hit back on Sunday afternoon, telling Mashnouq that he will not be able to prevent the group's "jihadist operations."

"You and your Crusader security agencies won't be able to prevent us from staging our blessed jihadist operations, wherever we want and whenever we want," the Brigade said in a tweet.

“You and your Crusader security agencies that you are bragging about enjoy 'a high level of naivety and silliness',” the Brigade added.

In his remarks to An Nahar, Mashnouq had hailed the efforts of the security forces for their “preemptive” measures in thwarting “criminal bombings at Dahr al-Baydar, al-Tayyouneh, and Raouche.”

“The security measures enjoy the complete support of the powers represented at cabinet and those outside of it,” stressed the minister.

Commenting on the parliamentary elections, Mashnouq revealed that preparations are being made on the basis of the adoption of the 1960 electoral law.

“Weekly meetings to this end are being held away from any political decision on the matter, which is in the hands of parliament,” he explained.

In May 2013, the parliament voted to extend its own mandate for 17 months after the rival political parties failed to reach an agreement over a new electoral law.

Around 100 MPs from all blocs, except the Change and Reform bloc, voted to extend parliament's term until November 20, 2014.

“Consultations between me and Speaker Nabih Berri are ongoing and he will carry out further discussions in the upcoming days regarding the polls,” Mashnouq stated.

Sheikh Sirajeddine Zouraykat of the Abdullah Azzam Brigades deemed on Friday the “Free Sunnis Brigade” Twitter account as “fake”, saying it was run by sides affiliated with Hizbullah.

The “Free Sunnis Brigade” had vowed earlier this week to task gunmen to attack churches in Lebanon and in the eastern Bekaa valley in particular.

Following these alarming tweets, Lebanese authorities contacted Twitter's administrators to communicate these threats with them and try to identify who is behind the account.

In the same context, the Internal Security Forces' cyber crimes bureau announced on Friday that the Twitter account of the vague Brigade is under prosecution.

According to the bureau, two fake names have operated the account and they are Omar al-Shami, a former Syrian inmate who died in the Adra prison in the neighboring country, and Saifullah al-Shayyah, who does no exist.

No. Not iran. This is the work of the source of all evil. Assad and his Mamlouk drone. Who work full time to create instability in lebanon.

I remember when terrorists where bombing Syria, some Lebanese sects were saying, "it is Assad bombing himself. Terrorism is against Sunni-Wahhabi believes."
As a matter of fact, I do remember when the Twin Tower were bombed on September 11 2001, same people were saying, "It is inside job, Sunni-Wahhabi teaching is against violence."
And I still remember few months ago when ISIS uprooted Churches in North Syria, same people were, "must be Assad word, because in Sunni-Wahhabi teaching we protect Churches."

Any news about the identity of the terrorists of September 11, Madrid 2006, London 2007, Russia 1990's 2012, 2013, Egypt 2013.
Were they
1. Christians from Vatican?
2. Sunnis from Saudi Arabia?
3. Mashnouq's Conspiracy theory: Targeting Saudi reputation?
4. Same faith and sect of the 2 Saudi National bombed the Lebanese army and the Roche Hotel?

From the minute this brigade surfaced nobody took them seriously and most thought they were a cover up for some intelligence agency; most probably syria/iran/HA.

There are extremism on the Sunni,Shiite, Mossad and even the CIA sides. Extremism is being faced with extremism around the globe. It started with the Israeli and Palestinians to expand to Iran & co. Fanatics do exist just like the mafia war it is a matter of who is well funded and who is going to die first...this is not about Sunni or Shia or church bombings as in Egypt and Iraq, look what Israel has been doing for yrs and getting away with it, it is a matter of who is behind you.

lebpatriot, do not forget that the assad regime through saika and fplp have organized the massacres of christians in lebanon as early as in 1975, in dam our, haret hreik and ghobeiry.

Missing greatpierro 06 July 2014, 19:06

evidences are showing the involvement of Suleimani, the head of Iran’s Quds Force in the isis tide in irak. the aim for iran is to weaken irak, dominate the chiite south, and break the sunni moderate society in order to avoid reconciliation or a united irak. further more a threatening isis moving on to the borders of ksa is a superb bargaining card in the hands of the iranians at a time where nuclear negotiations are at their height.

Missing greatpierro 06 July 2014, 19:19

the attacks against the christians via the baalbeck sunni brigade is a replay of what the syrians have done against the christians in 1975 in Lebanon. Christians in the south suburbs and in dam our were massacred at the hand of the fplp and the saika (both syrian moukhabarat led palestinian militias) to weaken the christians and justify a syrian intervention in lebanon.

Missing greatpierro 06 July 2014, 19:25

iranin is using today the same scenario albeit at a huge scale in lebanon, syria and irak. laminating the moderate christians and sunnis (hence the threats on hariri jr), dividing the countries and allowing iran to dominate, lebanon, syria and irak.
maliki is the guy of iran. he has given orders for the iraki army to withdraw in front of isis only to allow isis to gain land, weapons (left by the iraki army) and millions of usd in the banks vaults.

Missing greatpierro 06 July 2014, 19:30

what i cannot explain to myself is how christians in lebanon accept to line up with the tyrannical regimes of syria and iran and now maliki, when all the evidences since years show that those very regime are responsible in the attacks on christians. those christians justify their alliance on the threat of extremist sunnis, yet so far sunnis moderates in lebanon are the very vast majority and there was no act committed by sunnis against christians since the beginning of the civil war: no massacres, land or house occupation, land buying….

bigjohn, no one is defending those extremist and saying that they do not represent a danger on our society. Yet those extremist do not find echo in the lebanese society and specifically the sunni community. these extremists are systematically a fabricated phenomena brought upon us by intelligence service, the syrian and now the iranian, in order to create havoc in our country.
