Cabinet to Discuss Israeli Attack on Hizbullah amid Concerns by Salam

The government is expected to discuss on Thursday the Israeli raid on Hizbullah fighters in Syria as Prime Minister Tammam Salam has expressed fears on the repercussions of the attack on Lebanon.

As Safir daily quoted Grand Serail sources as saying that Salam made contacts in the past two days to have a calm cabinet session.

He has expressed concern on the repercussions of the raid, saying they could harm Lebanon if the political and military tension in the region remains.

Hizbullah said Israel carried out Sunday's strike on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, which killed Jihad Mughniyeh, a prominent Hizbullah fighter, a senior Iranian general, and five other party members.

According to cabinet ministers, discussions during Thursday's session will focus on the condemnation of the attack.

The ministers, who were not identified, told al-Liwaa newspaper that the cabinet members will also insist on steering Lebanon clear of any confrontation with Israel to preserve its political and security stability.

Israel has gone on high alert for possible attacks by Hizbullah. It has beefed up its air defenses and increasing surveillance along its northern frontier following the airstrike.

Israel and Hizbullah are bitter enemies and fought a bloody monthlong war in the summer of 2006.

watan that's the israeli fanclub on naharnet, always here to defend israel and cheer their aggressions.
most of them are israelis posting under false pretenses, others actually admit being israeli (veritas, danny b, asaf...)

no mooowaten : if you are truly in favor of the state of Lebanon then it is up to the STATE to decide of peace or war... not a militia on a war spree in syria against the disassociation Policy they hypocritically agreed upon....

hezbollah has NO RIGHT to drag Lebanon into another war! they should be considered as traitors if they do so!

it is up to the LEBANESE ARMY AND GOVERNMENT to decide such matters not to your milita under the orders of tehran!

Israel only goes to war for survival. Islamic fascists like Hezbollah go to war to specifically for ethnic cleansing. Are Israel and Egypt at war? How about Israel and Jordan? Clearly, Israel wants peace. If Israel wanted to ethnically cleans the Arabs who occupy Judea and Samarya like many of the ignorant claim, don't you think with all their military might, this would have happened a long time ago??

@Southern
The only apartheid states are those that speak the same language as Hezbollah. Please provide me with one example of an Israeli apartheid policy.

take a hike with your rotten broken record peace. it is israel dragging the whole region into war, they keep attacking and you keep defending them. and this has been going on for half a century.

or rather you divert the accusation towards hezbollah, over and over again, despite the fact that we all know israel's ambitions and aggressions predate the very creation of hezbollah.

you're the modern day equivalent of a south lebanon army, or civil war era lebanese forces. ready under any pretext to turn against your countrymen to serve the enemy.

if defending the state of Lebanon is defending israel then you have a very SICK mind pooor mooowaten...
i am not diverting ANYTHING , just reminding you iranian lovers that we have a STATE and only the STATE can choose to make war or peace, certainly not a MILITIA!

but we know how you hezbos respect the government of Lebanon by spitting on it! you are just filthy traitors and deserve to be sent to jail and trialed for treason... but you are lucky to have cowards governing who are scared of saying anything to hezbollah....

tfeh 3aleik. if you had half a brain, or a shred of dignity you'd understand it very clearly but you keep hiding under false pretenses.
"defending the state of Lebanon" my a..!! war is imposed on us, it has been so for decades before hezbollah even existed, and those who defended and are defending lebanon are the very ones you are attacking.
you speak big words and shout out big accusations, but what gives you the right to even open your mouth? who made you the defender of lebanon? what have you ever done to deserve such a claim and the right to speak so pompously? nothing. it is certainly not your kind who contributed in liberating the south or maintaining our territorial integrity. you lack the integrity, the courage and the ability, so why dont you just shut it while those who CAN and are WILLING to sacrifice themselves to defend this country's existence do it.
