Ahmadinejad Condemns 'Killings,' 'Massacre' in Ally Syria

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad condemned the "killings and massacre" in key ally Syria, which has carried out a bloody crackdown on seven months of protests, in an interview with CNN.

"We condemn killings and massacre in Syria, whether it is security forces being killed or people and the opposition," Ahmadinejad said, according to excerpts of the interview reported in Farsi by the website of Iran's state broadcaster on Saturday.

"We have a clear formula for Syria and that it is for all sides to sit together and reach an understanding... therefore these killings cannot solve any problems and in the long term it will lead to a deadlock," he added.

Addressing the developments in Iraq, Ahmadinejad said he expects "a change to occur" in Tehran-Baghdad ties after U.S. military forces pull out from the country.

"I think a change will occur. We have special relations with Iraq," he added.

He called the U.S. withdrawal "a good thing."

The Iranian president's comments were published after his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama said Friday that all U.S. troops would leave Iraq by the end of this year.

U.S. officials have long accused Iran of arming and supporting Shiite militias in Iraq against U.S. troops.

In the published excerpts, Ahmadinejad did not expand on what he meant by "change" in Iraq ties.

But he and other Iranian officials have repeatedly called for U.S. troops to leave Iraq ever since the 2003 invasion which overthrew Saddam Hussein

"I think this is a good thing and should have been carried out a long time ago. If it were done seven or eight years ago, there would have been fewer Iraqi and American forces killed," Ahmadinejad said.

Asked about the possibility of Iran and Iraq cooperating militarily in the future, Ahmadinejad said: "The Iraqi government is independent. It is they who have to decide how to train their military forces. We have to wait for the Iraqi government's decision."

He stressed that Tehran had established "special relations with Iraq" since the overthrow of Saddam, who had launched a devastating but ultimately unsuccessful 1980-1988 war against Iran.

Obama's announcement that the 39,000 U.S. soldiers still stationed in Iraq will leave by the end of 2011 has been criticized by the Republican opposition, which fears the withdrawal will enable Iran to expand its regional clout.

Changes to occur in Iraq? no doubt who will step in the open door.
It will be the Iranian chimp and his followers.
Bush the Father kicked out Saddam Hussein from Kuwait but left him alive to defend Iraq from Shia Invasion from the South.
Bush the Son rushed up and executed Saddam causing Iraq to be an Iranian Banana republic to be followed by Saudi Arabia and who knows what will happen to all UAE. Oman , Qatar etc? can you imagine what danger to the free world this will be?

Why is President Ahmadinejad condemning the killings and massacres committed by the magnificent Syrian army on Sunni Salafis terrorists financed by the Zionists and Saudi Wahhabis ?

The unilateral pull out of US forces from Iraq before the Iranian regime is taken care of, would be a major mistake by the Obama administration with severe consequences to the whole of the ME, the Iranian criminal regime that has been fighting the US and the free world as a whole through proxies since the early eighties in the Middle East (Blowing up of US embassy, and Marines Barrack, French Marines, Italian contingent,......) and that have been doing all the incitement against the US forces and inciting and training terrorist extremists be them Sunni or Shiites to destabilize the whole of the ME and have the west exhaust its resources and then give up, so they can take over the whole of the ME and make it a hub for their terrorism and criminal Faqihi ideology. Take Care of the criminal regime and then do what you need to NOT BEFORE!!!! If this were to happen than this surely be another failure by the Obama administration which will be punished at the ballots...

Time to stop minority dictators rulling

Iraq will be dominated by Shiaa with largely autonomous Kurd and Sunni areas ans Syria by Sunni with largely autonomous Alawi area that's the way it should be and if Aoun the midget dId not betray his principles Lebanon would be dominated by a pro western Christian - Sunni - Druze alliance with a largely autonomous Shiaa area who would be peaceful as it can not drag the whole country in its foolish adventures.

When Assad will go Aoun the midget will follow him in the garbage of history.

The US is being kicked out from Iraq. The reason is The Iraqi parliament refused to accept that the American criminal forces can commit war crimes and not be prosecuted by the natives. If the Americans allowed the natives to prosecute American war criminals, the Iraqi government would have allowed a few to stay as advisors.

The American blood thirsty imperialists were told by Zionists that if they come to. Iraq with lots of money and "shock and Awe" the Iraqi people will become their puppets. They also failed miserably in Afghanistan as the Taliban will take over when they leave. The American empire is broke and isolated.

"Truly Lebanese" the majority of Sunnis, Druze, and even now Christians do not call themselves "pro western". After Israel, America (government) is the most hated country in Lebanon. You are still stuck on the 1950"s.

If Lebanon disintegrates, who will rule the "Christian" areas? An Alliance of FPM, Marada, and SSNP will beat LF. Leftists like myself will be watching from distance.

To: canaanite: Peace will come to out area if the Palestinian mothers will love their children more than they hate Jews and Israelis.
Peace will come when the Palestinian will stop dreaming of living instead of Israel and not alongside to Israel.
So far the Palestinian never missed a chance to miss chance of peace in our area, Even these days most of them dreaming of liquidating Israel and wishes all Jews to immigrate back to their "home lands" , we'll we were there and the "hospitality was bad,
But let me ask you: in 1948 there were 600 hundred thousand Palestinian who left , expelled , deported whatever from Palestine.
Same time 1.2 million Jews expelled from Arabian countries.
Will Arabs allow Jews to return to their home lands? will they get back their assets ?
