U.S. CENTCOM Counternarcotics Policy Director Visits Lebanon

The Office of the Secretary of Defense’s (OSD) Policy Director for CENTCOM Counternarcotics, Bob Vierkant, visited Lebanon from July 31 to August 3 to observe ongoing counternarcotics training for Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) units conducted by the United States, the U.S. Embassy said on Wednesday.

“Vierkant and the OSD delegation met with several LAF units who regularly conduct counternarcotics operations in order to observe efforts and training,” the embassy said.

“The visit underscores the United States' continuing support for the LAF’s efforts to secure Lebanon from threats, including the threat presented by the illegal narcotics trade,” it added.
