Report: Hariri Awaiting 'Unified March 8 Stance' on Aoun's Nomination

Al-Mustaqbal Movement chief ex-PM Saad Hariri will not declare his nomination of MP Michel Aoun for the presidency, unless the March 8 alliance particularly Speaker Nabih Berri agrees and takes a unified stance in that regard, media reports said on Monday.

Sources involved in the presidential negotiations noted that Hariri has postponed his declaration mainly because of the opposition he faces from inside his parliamentary Mustaqbal bloc, the March 14 alliance and others from the March 8, mainly Berri.

He has therefore postponed the step until he returns back from Saudi Arabia.

Nevertheless, March 8 sources denied the above information and noted that the agreed path (between Hariri and Aoun) provides for the declaration of Hariri's position after which Aoun, Hariri and others would head to Berri to persuade him.

Free Patriotic Movement founder Aoun's chances to be elected president have largely surged in recent days and Education Minister Elias Bou Saab of the FPM announced Sunday that ex-PM Saad Hariri has officially decided to endorse Aoun's presidential bid.

Berri, of the March 8, has reiterated that he will never nominate Aoun.

Lebanon has been without a president since the term of Michel Suleiman ended in May 2014 and Hizbullah, Aoun's Change and Reform bloc and some of their allies have been boycotting the parliament's electoral sessions, stripping them of the needed quorum.

Hariri, who is close to Saudi Arabia, launched an initiative in late 2015 to nominate Marada Movement chief MP Suleiman Franjieh for the presidency but his proposal was met with reservations from the country's main Christian parties as well as Hizbullah.

The supporters of Aoun's presidential bid argue that he is more eligible than Franjieh to become president due to the size of his parliamentary bloc and his bigger influence in the Christian community.

Mr PM you can wait and wait and wait...because M8 will never allow the Caporal to be free..after they paid him so much, him and his family and his deputies.

if hariri is going to support aoun, then he should just do it, there's no point in hiding behind excuses to postpone. if after that berri doesnt follow suit, then the blame will be on him

@terrorist

here is a link that could help you. Also, you could reset your router and then use the default logins as per the below link. If you want to use another channel, use a wifi analyzer on your phone or laptop to see which channel is best for you.

hope it helps

call them before hand and ask them for the settings. Reset and enter the new settings. I dumped their router long time ago. Yes, the higher channels have less traffic. These routers come pr-programmed on channels 5-7. Disaster

He's simply following nasralla's lead who just last week advised Aoun if he wanted to become president he should also deal with Berri and Frangieh. If Hariri endorsed Aoun before this happened he could be in the same mess he got into after endorsing Frangieh.

Aoun is a senile 84 years who has amassed 100 million USD fortune illegally . Pity a country that elect a thief as a chief .

Good show Hariri, you've exploited the other side's intent on not having a Christian president.

It is a smart move because it is his only move. Nasrallah, last week, almost dared Berri to attend the next electoral session and vote for Aoun, a dare which Berri has not taken to date, because he knows that the true Hezbollah game is to use Aoun as a feign, a pretext to the Hezbollah agenda of further obstruction of Lebanese State Institutions.
So the move to get Hariri and the Sunni out on a limb for Aoun is for the sole purpose of cutting off the limb and bringing the Sunni political leadership to its knees. Why would Hariri engage in this?? He would not and should not. So, indeed, before the core of M15 endorses the M8 candidate, at the very least, all of the M8 parties need to openly commit to their candidate and to their intention to go to parliament and cast their votes for him. Short of that, why would or should the major M14 party do so??

M14, sorry.
