Antonio Candreva struck a second-half winner as Inter Milan edged Sassuolo 1-0 on Sunday to hand coach Stefano Pioli his first away victory since he replaced Dutchman Frank De Boer.

Inter's second win in succession following a chastening 3-0 defeat to Napoli a fortnight ago moves the Nerazzurri up to provisional seventh place 15 points off top spot.

Juventus, bidding for a record sixth consecutive league title, moved seven points clear of Roma atop Serie A with a 1-0 win over the capital side on Saturday thanks to a sumptuous 14th minute left footed thunderbolt from the Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain.

AC Milan's scoreless draw with Atalanta on Saturday means the Rossoneri are at risk of dropping from third to fifth place.

Napoli will move up to third if they account for Torino later in the day while Lazio will move up to fourth if they beat Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico in Sunday's late game.
