Jumblat: Le Pen's Remarks an Insult to Lebanese and Syrian People

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat criticized on Tuesday statements made by visiting French far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen which he dubbed as “insulting.”

“Marine Le Pen's statements in Lebanon are inappropriate and are considered an insult to both the Syrian and Lebanese people,” said Jumblat in a tweet.

The MP did not elaborate any further.

Le Pen announced from Beirut that Syrian President Bashar Assad is “a much more reassuring solution for France” than the jihadist Islamic State group.

Le Pen arrived in Lebanon on Sunday.

She held meetings with senior Lebanese officials on Monday, and is scheduled to continue meetings with other figures on Tuesday.

i didn't know that the "progressist" Jumblatt is the spokesman of both the Syrian and Lebanese people!!!!..... the Syrian people are side by side with Assad otherwise he wouldn't have lasted till today, bearing in mind that even the Americans and EU countries who were supporters of the terrorists are now betting for him too.. useless and irrelevant.

That job has fallen to you slizern. If his comments are useless and irrelevant, what does that make your comments? And your claim that the Syrian people are side by side with Assad is indicative of your mental state. It is why Assad, after having much of his army almost collapse in front of defectors and civilians with light arms, he resorted to tens of thousands of foreign Shia militias from Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, ..... And then directly the Iranian revolutionary guards .... And when that did not work, the Russian special forces and air forces!!! Yes - what this deplorable woman said is an insult to every Lebanese and Syrian. She believe in democracy for some and not all. The others can wallow in misery and dictatorship for the rest of their lives. She is in Lebanon for a PR campaign and to avoid questions about her spending scandals. The more idiotic things she can say, the more the attentions will shift from relevant scandals. Trump strategy at work.

If the Syrian people were not behind, beside and in front of Assad and his govt, the terrorists of ISIS would have taken Syria and Syrians know that, this is the fact and the logic... but as your mentality is narrow one, you only hallucinate. so plz don't break in tears.

btw, the only ones who invite terrorists from all over the world were your heroes, the so-called opposition of Al- qaeda and Nusra terrorists... the Syrian govt asked for help to counter this international invasion, get your info right and stick to it, becuase you're making rediculous of yourself.

Slizern ... This shows how delusional you are. At most 25,000 Jihadists entered Syria and Iraq since 2011 with about 90% joining ISIS. This is the same organization that focused initially on fighting the moderate rebels while Assad regime provided them with artillery support which enabled them to capture much of North Aleppo and Raqqa provinces. ISIS control much Yarmouk and Hajar Al Aswad few kilometers from Assad presidential palace. Yet, there is not a shot fired while Assad focuses on areas held by moderate rebels in Wadi Barada, the Qabun and the Ghuta (around Damascus). While rebels are launching diversionary attacks on Dara'a to relieve pressure from Damascus suburb, ISIS attacks the rebels in Dara'a.

Now let us assumes through a miracle that all of these 25,000 are still alive and that they are only in Syria and that they are all fighting your regime (ignoring the relentless attacks on ISIS by Kurdish forces, the FSA, the Turks and the Americans). It is only through a warped mind that we are to believe that they will be able to defeat an army that is nominally more than 400,000 and a reserve force of over 1,000,000. The reality is that Assad, despite gang pressing people into the army, have a fraction of that number, since most Syrian refuse to die for this dictator.

And it is why he requires tens of thousands of Shia militias from all around the world, the Iranian revolutionary guard and the Russian armed forces and air force.

No you are not Southy!
Actually, no one can tell what kind of popular support Assad had or has.
You cannot measure the popularity of a Tyrant! Not when the streets are flooded with shabiha. Not when you know that your life will be threatened should you speak against the Assad family.
You cannot measure the popularity of a Tyrant, when his family has been ruling a country for decades, and staging false elections ending up with scores similar of the worst regimes of Africa!
No Southy! You are NOT stating facts. Far from it!

The Druze mentality is more racist that any one of the worst Le Pen supporters : they will never accept to let their daughter marry a non-Druze. So this Jumblatt should just shut up.
