Two Killed and Two Wounded in Akkar Town Clash

Two young men were killed and two others were wounded overnight in a clash in the Akkar town of Kfar Melki, media reports said on Thursday.

The armed clash that started with a dispute over “traffic priority” pitted young men from the Hammoud family and others from the Eid family, the reports said.

The exchange of gunfire resulted in the death of Ali Mohammed Eid and Ammar Khodor al-Ashqar and the wounding of two other men, LBCI television said.

Eid and al-Ashqar were laid to rest on Thursday amid a state of tension in the town, reports said.

LBCI said the Internal Security Forces Intelligence Branch has managed to arrest one person and that efforts were underway to arrest the rest of the culprits.
