U.N. Chief Urges Aid Deliveries, Medical Evacuations in Syria Enclave

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday called for aid convoys to be allowed into the besieged Syrian enclave of Eastern Ghouta and for the sick and wounded to be evacuated.

Addressing the Security Council, Guterres said air strikes, shelling and ground offensives have intensified in Eastern Ghouta since a U.N. ceasefire resolution was adopted two weeks ago, claiming hundreds of civilian lives.
