New proposals have been made in a bid to resolve the standoff between the Free Patriotic Movement and the Lebanese Forces over Christian government seats, media reports said.

“There are efforts to resolve the crisis over the LF's seats through offering the LF the deputy PM post once again in return for keeping the justice portfolio with the FPM and giving the LF a state minister and two or three key portfolios,” An Nahar newspaper reported on Sunday.

Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri was tasked with forming a new government on May 24.

Wrangling over Christian and Druze seats and to a lesser extent Sunni seats has so far hindered his mission.
