Speaker Nabih Berri chaired the parliament’s legislative session on Thursday after a previous session on Wednesday that approved a law authorizing the government to borrow funds in foreign currencies.
At the beginning of the session, Berri gave the government a one month time limit to re-examine the proposal of a law on petroleum resources in Lebanese territory after the insistence of Prime Minister Saad Hariri to discuss it, media reports said.
Energy Minister Nada al-Bustani has expressed reservation about the proposal, they added.
Berri has referred a draft law, aimed at settling the conditions of employees in the Customs Authority, to the Supreme Council of Customs because it entails burdens on the Lebanese treasury, reports said.
