Mobile Application Displays Power Outages in Lebanon

With no offense of course to Samer who is trying to help us Lebanese people to adapt to the disgraceful electricity cuts, I could only look at this application in a sad way to see how we Lebanese learn to cope with our problems instead of fixing them permanently.

We have learnt to live with our electricity problem through:
1) Subscribe to outsourcing power (generator)
2) Buy our own generator
3) Create phone applications on the power cuts to manage our lives accordingly

This is really sad, and this doesnt just apply on electricity, as the list goes on to water supply, and other small basic things that we as Lebanese citizens have the right to own in a respectful manner, instead of paying twice for everything.

I know Im not the only one who sees all this, but what kills me is how nothing has changed from 30 years, and its always the same excuse that we suffered from a civil war and the country has never recovered since. That is absolute nonsense. When you want change, you got to make it and not rely on politicians to do it as I wouldnt be surprised to know that some politicians down the line are getting a slice from that cake of profit that the Generator owners are producing. You guys want a good example? Look at Japan that got bombed with an Atomic bomb TWICE and the latest Tsunami, and yet they managed. Why? How? Because it is a mindset that they have, and we lack.

How come we think of ways to adapt our lives to our problems instead of fixing them? How come we cant make use of natural power supplies like water and wind turbines to generate electricity if petrol is too scarce and expensive for the government to buy?

Anyhow, I just want to highlight that I am no supporter of any party in Lebanon or any sect, but what I am a supporter of is to build our country in an effective manner to guarantee that every single Lebanese citizen gets their basic needs without having to cope with problems or stealing, or whatever...

You are all right of course that it's so sad to have to reach the level of developing an app for this purpose. However it is a good idea and one that EDL of course didn't have. I'm hoping for an iOS version!
