Israeli officials say US pressure restraining Israel in Lebanon

Israeli defense officials assess that Hamas is closely coordinating with Hezbollah and Iran to revive and rebuild the so-called “Axis of Resistance,” as the Israeli army expands strikes in Gaza and southern Lebanon, Israeli officials said on Thursday, according to a Jerusalem Post report.

The officials said that U.S. pressure is, for now, restraining a fiercer Israeli response to “Hezbollah’s ceasefire violations.”

“In parallel, Hamas and Hezbollah in Lebanon, with Iranian funding and encouragement, are working to restore terror infrastructure, smuggle and move weapons into southern Lebanon and the Bekaa, recruit new operatives, and intensify training for a future round against Israel,” the Jerusalem Post said.

It quoted military sources as saying that Hezbollah is “acting in clear violation of the ceasefire understandings and is moving in the opposite direction of demilitarizing southern Lebanon and disarming.”

The military sources added that the Northern Command commander would like to respond in a far more aggressive manner to “Hezbollah’s violations.” Still, at this stage, the United States is “tying Israel’s hands behind its back.”

Sources within the Israeli lynch mob suggest that racism is in real trouble in the region and globally. "This is no joke," they said. I'm reading a 1951 novel, Fallen into the Pit, by Edith Pargeter, that paints a picture, so far, of a Jewish survivor of the Nazi Terror. She is convincingly presented as a likely (as of half way through the book) candidate to have murdered the loud-mouth, full-of-hate, former German POW who is working in her Shropshire area and continually taunting her about her exterminated relatives and her obvious grief. She is so far down in a hole (the "pit"?), that she really wouldn't be responsible if she accidentally hit him over the head three times with an iron rod and threw his body in a brook. Israelis certainly seem to act that way but by this time, it's just acting out a role. Maybe they're trying to be faithful to their ancestors and the way they were taught to be, but this is no novel, this is here and now. Get with it.
