Trump says Lebanon 'at crossroad', lauds govt 'courage'

U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Lebanon is at a crossroad and has now a chance to draw a path to prosperity and stability.

In a letter sent to President Joseph Aoun, on the occasion of Lebanon's Independence Day, Trump said he hopes to "deepen the U.S. partnership" with Lebanon.

"Lebanon is at a historic crossroad, with an opportunity to draw a path toward greater stability and economic prosperity for Lebanon and its people," Trump said in the letter, as he lauded "the brave decisions" taken by the Lebanese government, probably referring to the government's decision to disarm Hezbollah under U.S. pressure.
