Geagea voices support for amnesty bill devised by Sunni MPs

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea announced in a statement Friday his support for the draft amnesty bill agreed upon by a majority of Sunni MPs who met Thursday in parliament.

He said: "This has been our position from the moment the amnesty bill was proposed, and we still don't know why some MPs tried to distort our stance. But ultimately, the distortion will fail, and the full truth will emerge."

Geagea accordingly called on Speaker Nabih Berri to convene a session as soon as possible, with the amnesty bill agreed upon by a majority of Sunni MPs at the top of the agenda, "to uphold justice and redress a long-standing injustice."
