The Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc condemned on Tuesday Hizbullah’s tense political rhetoric at a time when various parties are presenting “constructive” political documents on the region’s future.

It said in a statement after its weekly meeting: “We question this escalatory rhetoric at a time when the Lebanese people have unanimously agreed on the need to bolster efforts that can lead to stability in Lebanon.”

“The party’s rhetoric demonstrates its current state of confusion on the local and external scenes,” it added.

The Mustaqbal Movement and Phalange Party had both presented their respective visions of the region in the aftermath of the Arab revolts.

Addressing the spoiled food scandal in Lebanon, the Mustaqbal bloc condemned the practices of some ministers over their lax approach in this issue, stressing that “strict and responsible measures needed to be taken against the real violators and those behind them to combat the deteriorating food security situation in the country.”

It therefore stressed the government’s need to complete and approve the food safety law.

Several quantities of spoiled food products have been found throughout Lebanon in recent weeks, raising questions over consumer protection, how these products made it to the country, and whether they were spoiled when they were imported.
