200 March 14 Personalities Throw Support behind Geagea in Maarab

A large-scale meeting of the opposition March 14 forces is scheduled to be held in the residence of Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea in Maarab on Wednesday in a show of support after his escape from an assassination attempt last week.

The March 14 general-secretariat has invited around 200 personalities, including party leaders, lawmakers and former ministers to participate in the meeting in Maarab at 5:00 pm, An Nahar daily said.

It quoted organizers as saying that the gathering is aimed at showing a united front with Geagea who escaped an assassination attempt by snipers as he was walking in the garden of his fortified residence last Wednesday.

The meeting is also aimed at confirming the determination of the March 14 coalition in confronting the next stage, which became full of challenges following the change in the status quo since 2008, when the last assassination was carried out, the organizers said.

Lebanon was rocked with a series of bombings and killings between 2004 and 2008, including the assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri in Feb. 2005.

High-ranking March 14 sources vowed a showdown with the government during parliamentary sessions next week, saying the opposition will no longer remain silent or reconcile with it.

Parliament will hold a three-day session starting next Tuesday to assess the cabinet’s performance.

Al-Joumhouria also quoted an opposition official as saying that Geagea’s assassination attempt was aimed at turning the clock back after striking the spirit of change instigated by the Syrian Spring as a continuation of Lebanon’s Cedar Revolution in 2005.

The main objective behind targeting Geagea is to obstruct the opportunity of change that could come following the collapse of the Syrian regime, the official said.

These assassinations stopped when march14 was no longer in control of the Telecomunications Ministry and now they are using geagea's fabricated assassination attempt to have access to all data again.

Amazing how everytime the popularity of march14 dropped (like it has now), one of the light weights used to get assassinated.

Dude, get out of that "conspiracy theory" mentality that plagues Lebanon and the Arab country.
Who in their right mind(other than Syrian regime and their allies) would fabricate an assssination?

No way Geagea for president. Any politician with blood on his hands cannot and should not occupy the highest function. Of course, this applies to Aoun and the others. We need a young and fresh president , why not Gemayel junior?

Aren't they worried they can be shelled by rockets this time, instead of snipers. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel.

Thumb geha 10 April 2012, 09:54

it is amazing to see how my previous comments generated so much responses about M14 being ready to defend itself!
I would like to point some facts that I have seen in the responses:
- if m14 is armed, it means they are pushing for civil war.
- no one talked about hizbushaitan weapons.
why is that?
why is it OK for hizbushaitan to have weapons, threaten the whole country, be allied to the syrian regime, be allied to iran, be the executor of the iranian wishes, ... ?

Missing inveritas 10 April 2012, 10:14

Because, you single minded fool, Hezbollah has other motives for its weapons, to keep Israel out the front door. What's your excuse for having weapons? Because Hezbollah has weapons. This M14 logic is astoundingly stupid and an 8 year old child would know better. Hezbollah has never threatened the country, it's only your Future News and Nahar that tells you that it has. You say it has targeted Beirut, yes, it has. Though I oppose it, it's by no means any worse than what Saniora was doing when he was in power, robbing the county, now with $11 billion dollars missing and what do you say? Well, what about the money Gebran Bassil stole? First of all, what money, second of all, when?

I pity if the day comes when you're in a political position like them. At least the current M14 leaders know how to create and spread the lies. All you're able to do is just spread it.

Thumb geha 10 April 2012, 10:26

partial reply as usual as you should have read below too :)
you are avoiding a direct replu by switching to stealing and ...
anyway, your claim hizbushaitan is keeping israel out of the front door is no more acceptable as explained below.
next you go to say they never threatened the country:
- beirut and all the murderous actions performed during the invasion.
- distribution of weapons to fpm (confirmed) :)
- distribution of weapons to salafis in the north (confirmed) :)
- supporting the syrian regime through kipnappings and deportation of syrians, and silencing others.
- threatening Joumblat to switch the majority (confirmed) :)
- ....
your reply is so funny.

Missing inveritas 10 April 2012, 10:38

And your reply is hilarious. Confirmed? Can you please link to them?
Hahahahahahahaha, Hezbollah supplying the Salafi in the north? Even though you claim Shias hate Sunni? You contradict yourself there.
Either you're incredibly stupid and I don't even know why I'm talking to you or you're just on the payroll of someone to post these comments. How much to they pay you? $10 a comment? You know, I hope your last name isn't Geha.

Thumb geha 10 April 2012, 10:53

@Mowaten and inveritas:
- your answers are NO answers :)
- regarding arming some salafi groups in the north by hizbushaitan: I repeat: it is confirmed :)
now for the others, since you are not commenting on them, then you must agree on my comments, thus we are then finally agreeing n these points.
what remains is that you choose to use bad language all the time especially when you are embarassed: why?

Missing inveritas 10 April 2012, 11:16

I repeat, give me those links and then we can talk. Meanwhile, someone call the mental hospital, we've got a serious issue of schizophrenia here.

Thumb primesuspect 10 April 2012, 15:26

I'd much rather have Israeli soldiers patrolling Beirut than hezbollahi z3ran that intimidate fellow Lebanese citizens. With such little respect I wonder if they are Lebanese.... They're most likely Persians.

Thumb geha 10 April 2012, 09:54

why is it not OK for M14 to have weapons to defend itself from those murdering its leaders, thus be tagged as looking for civil war?
the scam that hizbushaitan weapons target only israel is no more believable, as it has targetted beirut, as well as threatened leaders to acquire a s called majority by force, and is actively supporting the falling syrian regime.
I for one believe that since we have a foreign entity, i.e. hizbushaitan, heavily armed in our country, the least we can do is to be armed to defend ourselves from these thugs.
so what is the real problem here? why are there comments from so many m8 guys against this? why are we being accused as preparing for civil war? are they suddenly afraid that we want to defend ourselves from their chemes?
what is it that threatens them suddenly? why is it they are so afraid that so many shias are with m14 these days? they feel they are loosing their grip on things?
I wonder....

Thumb geha 10 April 2012, 12:29

it would have been better if you said nothing, because what you are saying is nothing.
while you consider hizbushaitan as lebanese , others consider them as iranians with iranian agenda: someone who threatens to retaliate on israel just because iran might be attacked .....
so their weapons and those who follow them are not legal lebanese weapons.
and by the way, we do not approve of what israel is doing at all, but when an iranian force is threatening them, what do you expect in return?
I do not see any comment from you about our other ennemy: the syrian regime who has been aggressing us for so long, and just yesterday shot dead a cameraman for new tv! selective memory?

Thumb falanges 10 April 2012, 19:47

why are we being accused as preparing for civil war? are they suddenly afraid that we want to defend ourselves from their schemes?

Thumb geha 10 April 2012, 12:31

Every one knows that the lebanese army is weak and very exposed to israeli forces . they will vanish our army in just 5 hours . seriously! if hizbollah is really defending lebanon's borders, then why are Assad's troops crossing the border and killing Lebanese civilians? Also, if hizbollah would drop their weapons, the army would be stronger, and Israel wouldn't attack Lebanon. Face it, you provoked every one of their attacks, even though you fully acknowledge that they would hit back ten times as hard. And no, 2006 was no victory, it was the UN that saved us. Seriously, we're better off without you. Take pre-civil war Lebanon as an example: no Palestinian militias, no hizbollah. And guess what, Israel didn't attack and invade. My point that Hezbollah doesn't defend Lebanon and that it acts by it's own Iranian agenda has thus been validated.
