Actress Lindsay Lohan was found unconscious in an LA hotel room Friday and was said to be suffering from exhaustion, but was not taken to hospital, spokespeople said.

In the latest scare involving the perennially troubled star, paramedics rushed to the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Marina Del Rey, west of Los Angeles after a 911 call that she was "non-responsive."

"The County Fire Department ran on a medical rescue today... there was a patient in their 20s that was evaluated and was not transported by the fire department," LA County Fire Department spokesman Tony Imbrenda told Agence France Presse.

He did not confirm her identity, but ABC television reported that Lohan, who is currently filming a television movie about Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor's stormy romance with Richard Burton, was found in the penthouse of the hotel.

Celebrity news website TMZ meanwhile reported that the 25-year-old had been working for two days almost non-stop, including shooting parts of the movie near the hotel.

Her spokesman Steve Honig told E! News: "Last night she worked from 7:00 pm to 8:00 am. She was exhausted and went back to her room to sleep.

"Producers were apparently concerned and called the fire department and paramedics found her sleeping but determined that she was fine, just extremely exhausted and slightly dehydrated.

"She is on her way home now to rest and will be back on set later today," he said, adding that neither drugs nor alcohol were involved in the incident.

Only last week Lohan spent two hours undergoing tests in hospital after an accident that saw the car she was reportedly driving smash into an 18-wheel big rig on the Pacific Coast Highway, west of Los Angeles.

The TV movie "Liz and Dick" is a break for Lohan, who after a promising early start has become known chiefly as a hell-raising celebrity with substance abuse problems and frequent brushes with the law.

In March, an LA judge formally ended Lohan's probation after a long string of court appearances, but told the "The Parent Trap" and "Freaky Friday" star to "stop the nightclubbing" and behave more maturely.
